I have put my little cob up for sale but have had no phone calls (or even scam e-mails

). I thought a confidence-giving type was in demand and hoped to sell quickly in order to buy my next horse but it doesn't look as if it's going to happen. I think I'm asking a reasonable price (below £2000), judging by similar ads, but can't understand why I've had no interest. Anyone in the same boat?

I have a 14.2hh ride and drive up for sale at a sensible (I think) price with not a single call either.

i was gona say its summer too, market always slows down about now. Picks up again in september when people want new hunters or don't want to take thier horse through the winter. Now everyone's making the most of our supposed summer

i've been to 3 sales in the last 10 days...LOADS of Cobs went through the ring at 1800 or above.

so yes, the market is good ATM

No-one can sell just now. A friend has had her youngster up for sale since Jan - no phonecalls from ad on horsequest and only 1 response from ad on horsedeals. He is cheap and exactly as described.

I've been trying to sell my car for weeks

is it advertised at 2k or 1k???

if the former, then lower it to 1k...it'll soon sell...

Used car market is serisuly dire at the moment so i'm not surprised ti isn't selling. We can't sell any used cars where I work at the moment.

Agree Annie- we cant find an hunter geldings for my OH which are below £4500- sorry but i cannot justify 12-15k for hunting and the odd local show...
Why are the interesting horses always 200 miles away? we are thinking about a buying weekend to either Lincs or Leics as there seems to be nothing in the south. Even tried to see horses in Wilts last weekend but 7 people never replied to messages about their horses and the one who did answer admitted the horse was for sale as it hated people and you couldnt turn your back on it?!?! oh and very spooky, bucked and couldnt be clipped.

Didn't have too much trouble selling my horse. Sold in a day, they dropped out and then sold again on 4th viewing.
Key is to know exactly what market you are aiming for and advertise accordingly

A very good friend has just sold her youngster for a huge amount. So people are out ther prepared to spend the money.

we have sold quite a few ponies since jan.

maybe he is to cheap or expensive. new pics and rewording ad. put him in h&h or horsedeals

It's really not the best time of year to try to sell horses, however I've sold 2 in the last 4 days and have surprisingly had a fair bit of interest since I started advertising a week ago. What I have noticed is my expensive ones have had non-tyrekicker-type people interested - a lot more than I would have expected at this time of year.

The poster above who says your price may be too low, could have a point? I have been wondering the same thing about my less expensive ones. Would be interesting to add an extra 1K on and see what happens

I added 2K onto mine and it generated interest!
Bizarre psychology but figured I didn't have anything to loose

Well that's what I am figuring too. I don't mind if I keep that particular horse - I just need to disperse some of them, and there are others I'd rather sell before this one, however if she did make more than I have advertised her at, then that's fine too. The figure she is advertised at does not look pretty, I'm sure there is something about people being attracted to pretty number sequences, hence the next K up might be more attractive!
