He sounds like a nicely trained horse. I'd agree that it would be a shame to have someone use strong aids on him. Not that it sounds like he'd let them get away with it![]()
I disagree. I think he sounds poorly trained and doesn't accept the riders leg. A horse should not tank off with a brief light squeeze of the leg, it is the generally accepted aid to go forward. Neither should the horse increase the pace with a slight shortening of the reins.
If he goes nicely when ridden in his own preferred style then I can see why OP doesn't want to reschool him. But most people paying to share want something fairly uncomplicated, not something they have to either reschool or learn to ride a totally different way because nobody ever trained the horse right.
The advert may put people off because "no novices" may mean people think he's quirky or difficult and they don't want that, whereas people in the advanced group of the riding school won't consider themselves to be a novice and will apply.
I hope you can find someone suitable OP.
