Is there a big difference between a fleece lined and 50g rug?

Looking for a light turnout rug for my tb and found two which I really like. One is 50g the other one is polar fleece lined. Is there a big difference? Both are 1680d, waterproof, breathable, etc. He'll get a warmer one too for the winter (he is unclipped and lives out 24/7 with a run in shed).

Don't know in terms of warmth but I'd go for the quilt every time, I just hate how fleeces fill up with hair and seem to catch on their coat :o

My friend bought a fleece lined winter turnout rug and it was destroyed after its first winter. The fleece got clogged up with hair and went really 'spikey' and seemed to make the horse itchy. It also tended to make the coat really static-y. I'd go for a polyester lined rug everytime. They're easier to repair, less likely to rub shoulders and polish their coat as they move. She now uses her rug if he needs an extra layer in winter...but always on the outside of the other rug!

I have used my fleece lined no-fill from Jan this year until March-ish, and then a couple of times this winter when it's dropped a bit.
I really like it, little bit of extra warmth, but nothing too much. I keep his coat groomed with a quick go over with mane and tail to keep it soft and never had an issue with rubbing, or it becoming clogged with hair

I had a lovesan fleece lined rug....he was out in -4 temperatures in it with a neck on fully clipped and toasty warm.
It didn't pull back, stick to the coat or rub.

Am looking at the gee tac 250g polar fleece medium turnouts as his next one.

I much prefer nylon lined turnouts. They slide as the horse moves and I expect they would be more comfortable.

The fleece lined one I got about 6 weeks ago is disintegrating rapidly - fleece pulling away from outer shell. I think its not moving with the horse and probably ripped away from the shell as she rolled in it.

I'm about to have a strop with the company that sold it.

Back when I was younger I bought a light weight fleece lined turnout rug (everyone else had canvas still!!) and thought it the most amazing thing ever!
Where have you found one?

I hate fleece lined rugs because they get very static and rub against the coat. They are also a pain to clean. So I would go for a nylon lined rug. Cotton ones rub more too, but fleece is the worst. I also hate using fleeces as under rugs. They pull back and dig in the withers. One horse I know lost nearly all his tail hair due to the static. It was permanent too. It acted like electrolysis! The owner and vet couldn't understand what was causing it until it was too late.
