Because if so, I think Otto is trying to get it

At 5pm I went for a shower as OH and I were planning on going to the Cinema tonight. Got out to find Otto chomping on something, didn'toverly panic as there isn't much he can get hold of...

...then I walked into the bedroom, to find what he was actually eating.....

Razor Blades!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He had got the plastic case that they come in with 3 used blades in, destroyed the case and crunched up one of the blades, however clearly the plastic wasn't tasty enough for him as he had eaten 3 of the 4 metal blades and left all the plastic

Rang the Vet, who put me in a couple panic and had us rush him to the nearest practice.

Arrived at the Pratice to be greeted by a far more relaxed Vet, told us that he had seen dogs eat far worse things (an ENTIRE tub of Sewing Pins!!) and pass them fine. And given that Otto was going bonkers giving him a welcome and not coughing he thought he was going to be okay!

So he is on Antacids (which smell really nice!) and has had two cans of Hills r/d to aid with "cushioning", and we now have the deligtful task of examining each "motion"

If no sign of them by tomorrow he has to go back to be X-Rayed to see how things are moving along and what the next step is.

So can we have all the vibes and crossed fingers you can muster that Otto passes everything with no problems by tomorrow morning please??
And also a big cheer for the Fab Vet who didn't go crazy and suggest several X-rays, Exploratory surgery etc etc as our only option and also thought Otto was a fantastic dog

If he ends up having surgery I might see if he wants to keep him

Fingers crossed for you Hen

I swear it is a Spaniel thing
crazy.gif
Ours tried eating a veg knife the other day
crazy.gif
He must have got it off the top or something because they're usually kept in the cutlery drawer

It is a Spaniel thing, because compared to normal dogs (Labs not included) Spaniels have both a distinct lack of brains and also a death wish.

The sire of one of my Parent's Spaniels was killed when he ran headfirst into a tree, proves my point perfectly!

So true!

I took Sam out for a walk last night & rather than waiting & sitting at the kerb, like he has been trained to do & does all the time. He decided that last night would be an exception & attempted to step out in to the path of an oncoming car, almost dragging me with him
crazy.gif

Luckily I had a sharp enough reaction to yank him back & the driver of the car put their brakes on but even so, what a tit our dog is!

Stoopid Otto!!!

Must be a full moon or something as Sweep was mooching around Nixons field (normally stays out of there as Nixon is not always dog friendly) and despite me shouting at him to get out didn't and then nearly ended up with 16h of wb tap dancing on his head!!

Anyway hope Otto is 'empty' soon and it turns out to be a close shave!!!

Sending loads of vibes to Otto, perhaps you could obtain a padded cell to keep him in

Hope everything reappears tomorrow. The worst Buffy ever ate was a £20 note, and we did manage to recover it (or a friend did who was dog sitting, thats friendship for you) and the bank changed it, without examining pieces too closely when I told them where it had been

Oh Otto, you silly so-and-so

Henry almost got himself run over yesterday as well as the other... incident...

Hmmm, and I was worried about Islay removing a glass eye from Mum's stuffed Kiwi bird today
grin.gif
(not as mad as it sounds, Mum brought the bird back from NZ with her
tongue.gif
it makes a noise when you squeeze it so Islay was proudly marching around with it

I can't believe this!!

And I though Pops was dim for her persistent bee chasing. I think Otto does indeed seem a good candidate to qualify to a Darwin award! What a fool!!

My aunts Westie ate a needle once, and did have to have surgery, but went on to live to about 15

The Vet said when he worked in London in a rather Expensive Practice a couple came in with their dog who had eaten an entire tub of pins, including the pin cushion lid!
The couple were rather poor and had no insurance and were dreading the bill. He took an X-Ray and all the needles were lined up waiting to be pooped out, so he told the couple to keep an eye on him - he pooed all of them out with no ill-effects!
