Hi,

Sorry for thick question!

I've been thinking about getting a Neue Schule Universal lozenge bit. I have looked on ebay at them, and also spotted KK universal bits. They look identical.

Is there a difference?

thanks.

Sorry, not very helpful.

Having had both makes of bits, not universal though I would say the Sprenger does appear to wear better. My NS bits seem to be made out of a softer material. Saying that my hose is an excessive chewer of bits.

Heather used to work for KK and then set up her own bit making business.

The bits are very very similar, but I think for KK bits, its the name you are paying for.

I dont think there is a great deal of difference personally.

The KK has an angled lozenge so you have to put it in with the arrow on the left and pointing forward. I don't think it matters with the Neue Shule.

My friend had a Nueue Shule and the rings went egg shaped after about 3 or 4 years. Ive had my KK 8 / 9 years and its fine.

If you do fork out for one just beware they come in different thicknesses on not every horse likes a fat lozenge in their mouth.

I love the NS universal, yes they get marks on them, but not that effect them. Also the quality has changed ALOT over the years, and the ones now are excellent, and well worth the money. Also look at Cotswoldsport, as they now do a universal with a shaped mouthpiece that is cheaper than NS.

I have both NS and KK versions of the universal and my horse prefers the KK. The lozenge is a slightly different shape. Also the KK marks less than the NS.
