Is there a difference between straight mag ox and magnesium supplements?

Just wondering if straight mag ox is better than magnesium based calmers? Is there a difference? Thx

Depends if there is anything else added in the calmer often not so I buy straight mag ox as its cheaper.

Some use a different form of magnesium not magox, Nettex use a chelated magnesium and nupafeed have a different form. Also Progressive earth sell magnesium glycinate. There are claims it's better absorbed.

straight mag ox is not palatable for some horses.
there are different forms of magnesium with different levels of absorption etc. I find pure mag ox quite good though and cost-effective.
