Is there a market for broodmares?

You are completely correct SaharaS, I do not have any experience of broodmares and it would be wise to just walk away.

Sugar_And_Spice, I can perfectly understand that, but foal is 6mts old so ready to be weaned before Xmas so I would have thought that offering him a home would at least take one horse off her hands to worry about.

Don't presume the foal will be easy tho..they go thru huge personality changes & learning curves when young..esp around weaning..including the asbo stages which can be more challenging than an adult project horse..not to mention their ability to get into mischief while learning things..they also like to test your bank balance with the vets....not trying to put you off..just preparing you! They do cute very well indeed..but they also have an inbuilt encyclopedia of stunts to try & patience testing debiousness not to mention natural 2 leggedship training methods of their own..and just because they are small, don't think you can't get hurt..one of my lovely darlings was facing me one second in field, then in less than a nano second, double barrelled me in the chest and launched me 2 meters into a stone wall, 8 healed broken ribs later I forgave him..luckily he didn't do it intentionally!the next week his pal kicked me in the knee on april fools day.. on the tenth day in plaster, they smashed thru 3 lots of post & rail & elec & elec sheep netting & killed my bottle lambs:mad:
