Is there a market for happy hackers on full loan?

I was wondering this afternoon, is there a high demand for happy hackers on full loan?

It was suggested in my other thread http://www.horseandhound.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=586405 that perhaps Ruby would be better suited on full loan. Just before I left my old yard, I was (with help from my RI) was re-schooling her. She was going well. Providing I wasn't over doing things. However she can hack for hours and hours and be fine.

Do you think anyone would be interested in her? I was chatting with a friend earlier (shes Horsey) on what I want to do. She suggested, moving back to the old yard. Give Ruby a month off to chill and then start hacking, Introduce schooling back to her and then put her up for full loan. If she did go to another home, I would look to go back to my old RS to have some more lessons and/or find a suitable share (I can't give up Horses completely)
 
Just to add, as it may confuse some people.

The school where I am at now, is VERY deep. Even the sound Horses struggle. So for Ruby it is harder work then the old school which she seemed to be getting on fine with.

The thing is she isn't a novice ride. She doesn't tank/rear/get strong etc. But she is forward, can sometimes (rarely) have a yipee buck when going into canter. She is also spooky, this can range from anything to a stop and snort, to a jump sidewards. She is fine with all traffic though and perfect with other Horses. She is being very exciteable at the moment, but I think that is due to being unsettled at the yard.

So I would want her to go to a lightweight adult.
 
I think you'd probably be able to find a loaner for her providing she doesn't do anything worse than you say - she sounds similar to one my mum loaned happily for a few years.

Hopefully for the right person she'd be alive enough not be boring while less of a hulligulli than some happy hackers I know.

Thank you, at the moment she is being a right so and so! so she wouldn't be loaned out if she is still behaving this way. I do think it could be due to her new yard though (last winter she was not like this and acted as I have described) In the summer, she is so chilled and calm. Hardly ever spooks. Will go out for hours on her own (I cantered her and got overtaken by a train and she was fine) but once turnout is reduced she does get a bit spooky, but typical mare, one day she will go out and spook at nothing (even if we come accross something scary) the next day she will spook at a crsip packet :rolleyes:

On the ground, she is usually a dope on a rope (I say usually, because she is acting up at the moment:o) can be led and handled by anyone. She is also quite pretty, so she could show (I am not a showing person) I'm not sure if she would do well though ;) this is her

I hope so! I need to find a loan home for my little mare (or a full time sharer) as she is not up to schooling work. Only prob I have is mine is only 14.1 which limits potential loaners somewhat!!
 
Yes, there is. I could easily loan out my cob a 100x over. BUT he's a saintly bombproof confidence giver.

Plenty happy hackers about but the majority are nervous or novice and want a quiet easy cob type, not a bigger fiesty warmblood who can be a bit if a handful.
 
Yes. I have never been inclined to compete, show or even school horses when not needed. Plenty of opportunities (supposed to be taking pony out for friend before kids do this year but it really doesn't interest me) I would happily spend my days hacking... this doesn't mean I want a horse that does everything you ask robotically though (not tarring all good horses like this as know some 100% bombproof I love but have sat on some which are just switched off) as would probably bore the socks off me, I want one with personality. It also doesn't mean I don't want to jump out hacking - but happy without if that was what I was taking on.
Most of my friends are similar and was lucky enough to share a fiesty happy hacker before getting my own horses, so they are out there.

Just watch the difference between someone wanting fun and someone wanting to go flat out into the ground, fairly easy to know the difference just meeting them. Known a few I'd never go riding out with for this reason. I like a varied hack not one speed dodging trees!

Btw, Ruby is lovely... right poser too!
 
Absolutely my old boy is retired from competition (used to BSJA, team chase, hunt etc.) and is with a lovely lady who just hacks him a few times a week, that's all he needs (21 y/o and lots of miles on the clock) and that's all she has time for.
Perfect arrangement, he has his little querks (don't they all!) and is certainly not a plod but very good in heavy traffic and absolutely fine on his own so well suited this this job.

I've always had it in my head she's much bigger! I find 14.2 is an easier height than 14.1 for people not dismissing.

Also means you'll be in the 14.2 and over sections with the horses if advertising online.

*Oooh I lie, just checked and is 14.2 and under section. Might be worth advertising in both if you do so though. Certainly wouldn't put me off.

I hope there is a market! My old hunter (rising 19) is awesome in everyway. A perfect gentleman to hack (on own or in company), sweetest and most biddable horse in the stable and lives in or out. He has no vices at all. Sound as a pound. Went out and won a unaff dressage competition the other weekend when it was too wet to hunt.
I just need to bring myself to retire him from hunting and let someone else happy hack him!
I imagine the best market is word of mouth. That way the loaner knows who they are lending to and the loanee knows what they are getting. I certainly would not advertise my horse publically for loan. The good ones owe their owners nothing and the least I can do is be 100% sure of his future home.

I hope you find somewhere nice for your boy. Every home will be vetted. I would like her to stay within an hour of me so I can visit her and make sure she is being cared for properly. I wouldn't feel comfortable letting her move too far away.
 
I have had a few horses on part loan and they were mostly hacking only. The last one I had was a bit spooky like you describe and did tank off a bit but essentially safe as she was 22. I would have happily had her on full loan if that's what I wanted at the time, she was great!

Lots of people only hack primarily because transport to shows is such a hassle and they're just not that bothered. That's what I have done so far although now I have my own horse I hope to do more things.

I thought Ruby was bigger too! She is gorgeous to look at, I should think someone will be proud to hack her about and maybe do the odd show!
