Is There A Market For Lorries For Conversion To Horsebox?

Exactly as the title; is there a market for decent wagons to be converted to horseboxes?
My son has a great racing truck which he is trying to sell (I did try to get him to buy a horsebox instead which he could have used for his bikes as well as me using it as a box but the begging fell on deaf ears! ) It's a V reg' Iveco Cargo, does have some decent living in it but would need some manoeuvring to make room for the horse part, would need the floor reinforced and a back ramp added etc. I'm just interested if this is the type that people might like for a project before we advertise it as such. I would sell it as a race truck (I take it its for carrying motorbikes!!) as there is a market for that sort of thing and at that age it wouldnt be worth converting to a horse box you could spend £3000+ having a ramp and a simple horse area then how much more than a race truck is it going to be worth??? just my two cents... hope that helps..

There is new European legislation now in place which means that it is no longer possible just to convert a vehicle to a horse box. Each conversion must be inspected by the DVLA before it can be registered as a horsebox.

Thanks, yes. It was more would it be worth advertising it as is rather than carrying out the work ourselves. Do you have any companies for the spares we would need just in the rare chance he'll let me have it cheap, lol?!

That's going to put the scuppers on a lot of people then I would think, perhaps that's not a bad idea for the bodged up conversions though.

firstly the dvla dont inspect vehicles apart from checking chassis numbers for registering imports and number plate transfers.. VOSA do and I think what you mean only applys to brand new vehicles and is the called EC whole vehicle type approval and its for the first registation !!!!!
