Is there a market for quirky pony?

Depends on price, quirks and talent and how he's built to some extent I think.

Does he have a prove comp record?

Not dangerous just needs a confident rider and he needs to know his place. Not proven as don't have funds to go out and compete but easily jumps 4ft+ at home, he's just a bit of a **** - Nappy and a bit of a live wire. Would excell BSJA as he just flys. He's 8 this time so still has many years to go out and do well. Equally I think he'd make a good hunting pony.

Do you need the money, or do you just not want his running costs anymore? I know we loaned ponies like that without batting an eyelid all our childhoods, and had a fab time on them. Sister took on a 14hh version of yours on loan and had the best 2 years with him and gave him a decent competition record too... He was then advertised for about £5k!

I find the best place to sell ponies is on the PC site, but they are usually proven to some extent, you do however get the ambitious PC mums looking for the next team prospect.
Just do not undersell him, you will get more incompetent people if you sell him too cheaply and get hung up on the negatives, make the ad a positive one and just mention the quirks as the reason for the price being low at the end of the ad.

Yes, I'd say there was a market. Would be just the sort of pony my girls would love if we needed another one of that size. I'd think there are a lot of confident kids who love jumping / would enjoy putting in the work to get the best out of of a quirky pony & either cant afford / dont want a ready made competition pony.

Hey!

I also recommend the PC website.

I have a quirky pony who sounds very similar...fancy another one ;)
I had to give up trying to sell him in the end and put him out on loan (groan!) Fortunately he has gone to a good home, but not to show jump, to do mounted games (Again..Groan, I spent 6yrs schooling him out of games!)

He is a serious showjumper but i found the market extremely difficult for us. Hes an amazingly talented pony, just never found the right person. There is ALWAYS hope!

Don't sell for hundreds, sell for more than that, people are put off by tiny prices as they think there is something seriously wrong. (Believe me, I tried it!) Be genuine & honest and get him going the best you can (or atleast have him looking decent) Unfortunately atm, current competition records are so important in the market, and I couldn't afford the running costs either, which is another reason why I had to loan.

Where there is a will, there is a way! Good luck, get him looking his best and take decent photos!! :) :) xxx
