Or is the feeling the same for all TB's that they aren't worth much?
I am in the process of selling a really nice 6 yr old TB that should be a really smart event prospect but I am concerned that the whole 'ex racers' thing has made people thing that any TB should be selling for peanuts.
He has never raced ( although was in training) and has no issues at all in the stable or ridden, however will anyone want him and if so what would be a sensible price??

If I am honest I go with horses on their own merit not their breed.
If you want the lovely folk of HHO to price him then we will need a bit more info on your boy :)
What is your horse like to hack out alone and in company? What is he like for farrier, worming, clipping, loading and travelling.
Does he jump? What is his flatwork like? Has he been competed and if so how did he behave and was he placed?
Those are all the things I would take into consideration before pricing. I like a nice TB if I am honest. If I was in the market for another one I would not hesitate to look at a tb, raced or otherwise. :D

I didn't want to write to much for fear of a telling off! He is brilliant in all ways, works in a correct outline in all 3 paces, baby lateral work, fab jump and brilliant hacking alone and in companyand a poppet in the stable. He is 6 yrs old and 16.2hh.
Oh and he has been out to his first dressage where he was not at all spooky or silly gaining 65%.

This is an interesting topic, because I have been to see a TB and what put me off most was that he had raced, albeit briefly, and I do have worries about future soundness issues when a horse has done a lot at an early age.

I would want to know what age he had started training and how long he was in training for. Although if the price was right I would take a risk, so as usual it always comes down to how much!

He was in training for a very short time and was too slow so went hunting. I think half his slowness problem was his canter- its so uphill! No good for a racehorse!
