4yo,14hh coloured cob.

Decent conformation and paces. Broken 6 months ago, has been to a few small shows, popped a jump, hacks out alone + in company. Good to do etc etc

All hypothetical, but do young, smallish ponies sell fairly easily?

Sorry if that is a bit of a how long is a piece of string question

Guess what I'm asking is if there is a market for something like that, or if most people/parents are put off by young age?

personally, i'd buy older for my kids. but i know someone that has just bought a 4yr old section a, newly broken, for her 4yr old daughter.

also, at 14hh, small adults would be able to ride him/her... or teens. so, yes, i think there is defo a market for it. x

I wouldn't have been put off by age as we have a fantastic instructor who has broken her own in the past, so we wouldn't be phased by being young and lack of experience as we'd have the help to bring on - we looked at a 4 year old but didn't buy (too boring to ride and lazy jumping according to daughter, she was after something less placid!), there is a shortage in the 14-14.2 height there did seem to be more about at 13.2, but we need the height but couldn't go higher as it'd exclude our 10 year old from competing in the under 16s at many local shows.

I would consider it for my daughter- she is a decent little rider and if the pony was safe and had a bit of experience (ie- had seen traffic, maybe been to a show- even just to wander round) I wouldn't be put off by age for the right pony- That said i would ideally look for something a bit older but think if a child is a reasonable rider its not a problem.
With a 14hh you may well sell to a small adult though? I think cobs are selling ok as they are cheaper to keep and hardier aswell.

I'd not be put off for myself, but would for my daughter, 4 year olds can be risky for kids. Think you'd have more interest from a competent teenager or a small adult who knows how to bring a young pony on.
