As the post says!!
heard there might be a new law coming in regarding the weight of horse box lorries. To make sure that they are not OVER weight. I no at present the law is in place to make sure horse box lorries are not under weight...
Is this right!!!

Can't understand post about under weight. You have to be very careful you are not over weight and if you have a 7.5 ton it must only weigh about 5.5 tons so that you can carry 2 horses legally

No. No one cares how much a lorry weighs as long as it isn't over its GVW loaded up. So a 7.5t must not weigh more than 7.5t with horses, people, dogs, tack, fuel etc. This has always been the law and is in place for safety reasons

As I understand it there are 2 new regs about to take effect
1] Refers to co2 emmissions to vehicles driving within the M25 Greater London Vehicles must comply withcertain levels effectively vehicles older than 2001 will need to be modified at an estimated cost of in excess of £3000.00
Good old KEN
2]There are also new regs regarding the transport of livestock which includes horses and I understand drivers must have a certificate of competance which will no doubt cost time and money to obtain
BD should be able to give ytou chapter and verse on both these regs
SORRY

I was told that by next year's mot I would have to have a working tachometre on my lorry, is this true?

I think if it is HGV then yes it needs to be calibrated which is about £600
