Is there a nice way..

I didn't bother saying anything I just bought a huge lockable box and stuck everything in it. that soon stopped them :o I have very little out now just 1 rug, and a head collar and lead rope that are in the box in my stable. im not very good with telling people how it is, so I make it clear in my actions instead :o sorry not much help!

I'd just wait until the next time they ask and apologetically say "I'm sorry but I'd rather not lend anything out anymore, it's getting broken / lost / worn (delete as appropriate ;) ) I hope you understand" type thing :)

"I'm really sorry, but I'm really protective over my stuff atm as I just couldn't afford to replace any of it. If you pay a deposit, or will help me replenish stuff I'll gladly let you borrow it though? Sorry, I just have no spare money anymore!"

Maybe?

When you're asked just reply that you were brought up with the adage 'Never a borrower or a lender be' as it sours things when people forget to return or disrespect your property, and you'd like to stay friends with everyone. Said with a smile, they are the lesser person if they take offence. :)

Just say you've made a rule that you don't lend anything out - you've worked hard for everything you've got, and had a couple of bad instances in the past where things haven't been returned/not returned in good condition etc, so rather than lending to some people & not others, you don't lend to anyone.

I always find being upfront is better than skirting around the edges being polite as some people just don't get it :)

If you canty bear to just say no, then tell them you don't like sharing your horse's things because you worry about cross contamination :)

My mates and I are quite straight will I each other. We work on a 'you break it, you bought it' principle. We tend not to borrow anything we can't afford to replace rather than other way round.

Growl at them everytime they go near your stuff:cool:

Nope ... its difficult without offending anyone, even thought its your bloomin stuff !

No buy your own lol sorry not helpfull but it does annoy me as you spend your hard earned money on stuff you want and need then others just repeatedly want to borrow it
