What a lovely set of pictures of the driving turnout, stunning turnout and quality. I shall look out for you around the county shows.

What an athletic horse ilovemorgan has, ouch !! naughty, I bet the judge and writer had a shock.

Somewhat testing weather today with hail stones on section A and despite our best efforts a cold horse to start. Heart rate of 60 at the halt and made all the routes we planned for a middle of the class performance but happy with him- he did what was asked. Going into the final day in 5th- 3rd-7th are all reasonably close so we shall see :)

Came last with 54% but I will be positive I will...

Did our first prelim and attempted it at Alnwick Ford which is notoriously spooky. And yes she spooked at the judges box and all the plant pots and got marked down for being distracted and not on the bit as she was looking at stuff BUT we did it and stayed in the boards and 54% isn’t awful I suppose

In-hand lesson was a success! He's proving to be a bit more sensitive than I expected so I'm having to learn to back off and give him time to process things. Got quite wound up when we spent a few minutes too long on shoulder-in so had to really back off and let him settle again.

Learning a lot from him on the ground which will hopefully carry through to ridden.

Oh no Chippers! Hope you're not too sore.

your photos are fantastic rara - what a lovely horse!

chippers I love the impromptu cross country fences! Great fun but I hope you're not too sore from your fall, these things happen!

Denbob I love the in-hand work, I always teach the lateral work from the ground before I do it ridden and it really helps them to find their own balance

I have a mini comp report but I don't think it deserves it's own thread so will put it here.

We have been building up our jumping confidence (read that my jumping confidence!) this time last year we were doing the 60cm and the 70cm classes and the 70s worried me but I knew that M loved to jump so we kept at it. Gradually we have been increasing heights in training and at shows and today we did our first 1m classes. It goes to show how important goals are - we will jump some dublin horse show qualifiers in June and they are 95cm so I felt I had to get up to the 1m stage so that the 95cm might actually look a little small!

Today started off with the 90cm working hunter, M warmed up exceptionally well and was jumping beautifully, I was first in which is good for the nerves I think. The approach to the first fence was a long one, no short turns as too many other jumps in the way, it was a big up to height square oxer and I got the striding slightly wrong, I had thought he might chip in a stride but nope, he took a total flier from a mad distance away but cleared it well, I'm not sure if you get extra points for screaming lol probably not.

The second was a nice upright with a couple of straw bales underneath then 7 strides to another oxer with mini cottage. Long turn back then to the double which was set for 2 strides but we squeezed in 3. Another long sweeping turn to an oxer and 6 strides to a set of planks, then the fences came up pretty quick, another oxer (where we landed after on the wrong leg typically when not much room to re-balance), another set of planks and then finished over an oxer with mushrooms underneath. A clear round, so very happy!. We were one of 3 clear rounds but I knew from the way the other ponies went that we would be third and we were but that didn't matter as we had such a great time. M is only 6 and the other two were older and much more experienced and much more polished so they deserved their placings!

On to the 1m class - I just stayed in the arena after the lap of honour, I kind of just wanted to get it over with. Same course so I won't go through it all again - he jumped absolutely fantastically, really took it all on, he was better over the double and got a perfect 2 strides - we had one down which was unfortunate but overall he jumped better in the second class. I am really buzzing with excitement tonight, will have a nice glass of wine and settle down to watch Line of Duty! Pics below :D

Evening everyone... Hope you've been enjoying the bank holiday weekend so far?

Lovely pics chippers, hope there were no rangers there to spot you jumping the benches in all that high viz 😉😉

F and I took the ponies to the forest yesterday and rode for two and a half hours, with dog and hubby on bike. Lots of logs and ditches.. Then watched badminton for the rest of the day.

Today we both had a group dressage lesson with RC, and both ponies went well. Lots of changes of bend to really make them think...

Tomorrow F is recording his test for an online dressage competition, and I've got RC SJ lesson in the evening.

@Wheels that's so impressive! I am still only just getting over 80s after being scared of 60s/70s last year so I'm super impressed, you can be my inspiration to push myself more!

@Fiona Ha ha well I didn't see any...😁

OH says that actually the fall could've been much worse as he almost completely lost his back legs after spooking and it was him pushing himself back upright that caused me to lose the grip I had on him to fall off, apparently he looked like he could've landed on me! So lucky for both me and buzz really, but unlucky that I landed on the path and not the grass section 🙄

Balmoral is less than two weeks away! Eek - need to find somewhere to jump on grass before that, might just have to be XC schooling

A pony SJ friend has the same issue, she thinks Paddy at Moira is hoping to put his SJ fences out this week 😊😊

The meadows might hire out their course on grass from last Saturday?

I had a fabulous lesson at Eland yesterday. My friend booked it as a confidence/beginner XC thing. It started with a confidence workshop which, admittedly, I didn't get much out of. It was making me way more nervous!! Then we went out with the goal of jumping a couple of 50cm and me asking to jump some of the 70s since I didn't do the hunter trial last week. Ended up jumping just about everything off the 80 course (with the exception of the final jump which is like a flowerbed with a shield on it because we ran out of time) and a couple of the 90 fences. My horse was amazing.

hopefully I will have some photos/video to share later :)
