Is there an almost end of July weekend thread yet?

Back in the game after a couple of weeks off due to standing on a HUGE stone out hacking on the downs 5 weeks ago. On Sat we had another jump lesson, working on jumping from canter. He was awesome! Got on all by myself, and had some wonderful moments, so proud of the ginger bean!

Had to buy this one...
(Caveat: I know I don't look great on him right now, but I am within 15% of bodyweight on the weighbridge and clothed and I am working on it! So please be kind!)

He's gorgeous and you look absolutely fine on him. Look how happy those wee ears are 🥰

Thank you, his ears are up and pricked everytime we are out and about, he absoutely loves it - there's someone in a house locally that always says when I pass 'he always looks so jolly happy to be alive' and it about sums him up 😂

That caveat is not required. you look great and in proportion. His facial expression is so cute. What a happy Chappy.

Fabulous photo and you look completely fine!

Thank you both! Promise it wasn’t a dig for compliments 😂 I have been on such a journey over the last year to be light enough to ride that I now no longer know what I am seeing in the mirror and live in fear of being that person that makes people think ‘god she really shouldn’t be on that horse’.

A bit late to this thread, but had a great nocturnal hack on Friday on the Old Goat (please excuse her newly made up forum nick name, I'm out of ideas and she's a stubborn escape artist, so that's what she's stuck with). Enormosaurus was considered a bit too unpredictable to risk taking on the nocturnal ride, but I was really happy to ride the Old Goat again. I used to share her before Little Madam, but the emotional rollercoaster she took me on was not good for my mental health at the time. She's a quirky horse that does not enjoy competing at all and will not hack on her own, she is however a joy to hack out in company, even in front where we got to use her ground eating canter, leaving my instructor far behind with all the kids behind him.
Saturday, I jumped with Enormosaurus, working on our nemesis: doubles! We managed to get all out strides in though still plenty of work for us, including me holding my back better which isn't easy as she tends to "dive" into her landings and I suspect her head is heavier than the whole of me. Also jumped with Little Yellow and it was great to be back on a pony, though I suddenly felt big (an alien concept to me). He was brilliant with only one run out due to rider inattention, which is not bad as he is not the bravest of ponies and we were jumping higher than his usual (he is a riding school pony).
Sunday was back on Little Yellow for carousel practice. It was such a success at the open day we have been asked to do a repeat performance for the village fete next Sunday.

We did it!!!

We arrived Monday afternoon and he settled in well. Absolute gentleman in his stable while we mucked out round him and got him ready. He was in the smaller horse ring on Tuesday evening so plenty of time to relax after the 6 hr drive. He was worried about a few things in the ring but stayed with me the whole time. Wednesday morning we were in the main ring. The atmosphere was amazing and Ben loved it. Again he stayed with me and trusted me in an environment he'd never experienced. I adore this pony so much he's come such a long way from the terrified pony who arrived with my at 6 years old. OK he is 12 now but I never in a million years thought I'd run him round the main ring at the Royal Welsh Show. He handled it like a pro.

We even came across a 4 in hand coach on the way to the main ring and Ben handled it.

He's back in the field with his friends now very proud of himself.
