Hi,

Sorry if I have posted this in the wrong place.

I need a valuation doing on a deceased horse for a insurance claim but it has to by a registered breeder.

Can any one help me out at all please? I don't know any one personally, and am completely stuck. This is so stressful.

Please pm me if you can help.

than you in advance

Louise

If you know the breeding why not try the owners of the stallion/mare as they would probably be in a good position to advise about value of their stock.

Weird company, most pay out on what it was insured for surely unless you are disputing that value?

no im not disputing it. they wont pay out with out a valuation. as my proof of purchase wasnt detailed enough apparently. Ive never had problems with this company before but now I know why people say avoid them like the plague.

he was a thoroughbred from germany. Actually I will try and contact his breeders. He raced but had no wins. the other option was a registered trainer but i dont know any of them either. not proper trainers I just know RI's.

Its just a big head ache.

Was he bred to race? If he was and didnt, then his current or last value would be very different to what his breeders original value was. I'm surprised that your insurance company wants the valuation of a registered breeder rather than an agent or a sales company rep or auctioneer:confused:. If however he was a TB bred for eventing or the like then its different as the racing people would put a much lower value on him:rolleyes: (sorry didnt read your last post properly as I see he raced but didnt win)

Thank you very much I will contact both of them.

I know its absolutely stupid and giving me such a head ache.

they originally told me it had to go on the claim forms so I got someone who breeds to do that for me but now they are saying it has to be a proper letter with all the details etc etc with their registration number and bla bla bla. But the person who did it before isnt registered with any societies .grrrr im so cross. any excuse not to pay out. Hes been gone nearly 4 months. Im determined they will pay.

I cant see how I can get any one to value a horse they have never met or seen etc and is now deceased. well got to try.

thanks again

They really do sound as if they're doing all they can to not pay up. Is it worth contacting the insurance ombudsman and trading standards because they are not doing what they were contracted to do which is pay out on a policy you have paid for? They accepted your contracted value at the start of the policy, they shouldn't be querying it now because they should have done their homework before they accepted your contract. Hope you get it sorted and at least you know now why the horror stories have been truth based, they weren't just scare mongering.

I will be reporting them to the ombusdsman. thats next on my list. I am having problems getting my vets fees out of them too but they have messed with the wrong person. One thing I do have is a fab friend who works in insurance in the legal team so she has been doing me some fab letters. im getting there slowly.

He wasnt registered with BE. We never got that far with him, Before he fell ill. But that is what we were going to do. local/county level eventing. He was only 7 but he had PLE or equine hodgkinsons which is quite rare, which isnt helping either.

Ive had some one pm me so im going to send them the details and see if they can help.

initially they said the valuation had to go on the claim form but now they say it needs to be a proper letter.

prize for any one who can guess the company in question.lol

I'm so glad you've got back up and WILL see that they deal with this to your satisfaction.
Honestly, you insure for what the horse is worth and then they try to fight it when you need to claim, utterly stupid; the time for them to challenge your value is before they take their first premium from you, after that they have literally signed on the contract. As long as you're only claiming for the value as stated on the policy then they should pay with no quibbles but knowing this company, they're just happy to take your premiums and not honour their contract.

Oh yes, we all know who you're talking about, there are reams of posts on here about them doing exactly this to many other people, it's no wonder they're always slated, their happy customers are very far and few between but until you're burnt yourself you never think it'll happen to you; sorry it has.
