around 21 years ago (1990) I bought a beautiful TB chestnut gelding called "Tom" from a lady called Kerry Page-Smith. She had a brother called Mark who in turn owned a horse named "Talisman" and trained with Andy Austin. This family lived Nr. Pangbourne Berks and "Tom" was the first horse I believe they had sold on. I really do want to get in touch. If anyone knows of these folk please tell them about this or, if you are reading this Kerry/Mark please mail me back.

Hello

Sov n Dom

:confused::confused:

You appear to have replied to my thread. I am really very sorry if you've lost your horse (especially as we have just lost two in the last 3 weeks) however, I am trying to locate someone and am not sure if yours is a cryptic response?

She replyed to bump your post up to the top of the list so more people could see it. With the layout of this forum threads dissapear in to the either very quickly if they get no response then less people will see it. If you post a reply it is pushed to the top of the list again. You have to type something to push it up so many people just put *bump* to say they are bumping it up the list. She is trying to be helpful :) I hope i'm making sence (although I rearly do :p ;) ) and I hope you are able to trace your horse.

Thanks to all of you who have been so helpful in explaining "bump" and for your suggestions. I am new to this lark so forgive my ignorance:o

JosieB I have sent a private reply to you to thank you as you have been especially helpful. I hope it reached you:eek:

I have spoken to Andy Austin who; although very nice, said that he had also lost contact with the Page-Smith's, I tried their old vet but to no avail as he also has no recent record of them. Kerry married a naval man so could even be overseas but I don't know her married name! This was really a last ditch attempt but I don't seem to be having any luck and facebook is like practicing the "dark arts" because I am simply hopeless with it.

As everyone has been so nice I should tell you that the reason for me trying to locate Tommy's previous owner, is that he was a reluctant sale made by Kerry due to personal circumstance and she was mortally afraid he would be passed to different owners throughout his life. However, he stayed with me from the day of purchase (21 years ago) until he died aged 30, when he literally lay down in his box refusing to get up again and simply went to sleep with me stroking his dear head. I think she might have liked to know that he was never sold on and his demise was gentle - just like him.

Dizzie - sorry for your loss.

That was a sweet, thoughtful thing to do: I'm sure Tommy's old owners would want to know and I am sure they would be thankful that he found a lovely home for life with you, right until the end.

I do hope you stick around - there's lots of people here to talk to who understand what they mean to us. :)
