ok first post here and its a it of a ramble so here goes - long story short is I purchased a TB mare from the meat man last year and have been attempting to bring her on since - she has moments of absolute brilliance and moments where I wish I was as far away from her as possible and I have the overwhemling feeling that I am trying to make a suare peg fit a round hole. She can turn out a good dressage test/individual show (I mainly show and dressage) but equally she can be a total nightmare in the school. The only things I can feel that she truely enjoys is hacking and cross country so naturally I have gone down the route of would she hunt and be good at it and get her a more secure future. I will totally hold my hands up and say I am a nervous jumper - I will make myself do it but dont think me and her at both our first meets would be an amazing idea. Do people want to take peoples horses hunting ? I have no idea whether she has ever been before and she maybe truely terrible but I desperately want to find this mare a job that she wants to do on a consistent basis. She has been checked out by vet, back man etc and pronounced fit and well just a bit messed up by people :(

One of my horses that was too much for me out hunting was taken on by the hunt, he is now being used as a masters horse - it is lovely to see him being useful - contact your local hunt and ask them - good luck!

There are often quite a few people that will do this, I used to on my gap year. If you find someone make sure you get them to take your horse more than once as in my experience most horses are brilliant the first time but its only after they've been three or four times that you find out whether they will settle to it :D
