Is there anything else I could of done?

I’m so sorry to read all this, it’s so sad when it is such a young horse, you’ve done every thing you can. Will be thinking of you tomorrow.

Will it make any difference whether the laminitis was caused by stress? I mean, as far as the hoof is concerned, the pedal bone is very close to the sole whether it was caused by X or Y.

What I'm wondering is, is it worth a talk to Trakky's farrier? Yes, I know he's far away. Does he travel. I'm just wondering.

I know you've gone above and beyond - I'm just wondering if it's worth talk to that farrier.

On late check last night he was sweating up in pain. It’s an ethical decision now.
He is in too much pain to travel.
Also I need to think long term as well.
He was never actually lame from his initial injury.
The problem is that of stress is the cause here (which it is)travelling the horse for hours on end and taking him somewhere new again will make it worse. If he was a fat pony etc you can control the external factors causing the lami. I cannot.

There really are no words to make you feel better but please be kind to yourself. You have done all you could but sometimes life is just cruel. To have made the hard decision shouts volumes you have put your beautiful boys welfare above your feelings and that is very hard. I hope today goes peacefully for you and allow yourself to grieve. Thinking of you x

Bless you, sending virtual hugs. What a tragedy 😩 Farrier may travel but it sounds like you are past that point now, sorry to say it xx

You have both been through the mill and you are being so brave. I am truly sorry you are in this situation and am sending you a hand hold to get you through the day.

My heart breaks for you :(

No, I don't think you could have done more. Sounds like a combination of stress and the meds he needed has just caused his laminae to deteriorate, but you can't exactly deny him the care he needs. I think you've been very unlucky, here. My old mare was nearly pts a couple of weeks ago, after she went so lame I felt bute wasn't going to cut it, but she must have heard me and rallied herself. She's not out of the woods by any means, but with her initial injuries I could just as easily be in your position due to something 'simple'. It sucks and I'm so sorry you're facing this with your beautiful boy.
