As title, my dog has hurt her front leg and back leg (dont know how) she went to the vet yesterday when she did it and it is really sore. The vet gave her a painkiller injection yesterday but she hasnt had anything today (except her metacam for her arthritis she has all the time) and she is in bed whineing when she moves :-( before i phone the emergancy vets is there anything I can give her?

I know this should be in dogs but theres more people here and I need to know!!

Half an asprin usually does the trick but since she is already on medication, ring the vet for advice

Hi - Sorry to hear about your dog, Metacam is an anti-inflammatory & non steroidal pain killer, so should help with discomfort, but if it is failing to ease her pain it might be that she needs a different type of pain medication, which works along a different pain pathway. Speak to your vet and take their advice, I hope she's feeling better soon. X

thanks everyone, ill give them a call. i thought about the asprin but like you said i didnt know if she could have it with the metacam. Its horrible seeing her like this. Think she'll be going back to the vets in the morning

have just rung the vets and they said to give her another half a dose of metacam to try and make her comfortable as thats all they would do if i took her in now and then take her back in the morning for further investigations :-(
