Is there more choice of horses to buy in the autumn?

I've been looking for a new horse for a couple of months now. My requirements are pretty specific but the last time I was looking (about 11 years ago now!) I don't remember it being this difficult to find one.

Is now a bad time to look? Do more people start to think about selling theirs just before winter?

I may decide to stop my browsing and try to save up over the summer so I can get a horse and some sort of transport situation and start looking properly again in September/October.

I always feel now is the best time to sell, more people seem to want to buy when they have long summer days ahead.

There does seem to be a shortage of correct horses about, plenty of ones that are very young or have problems though.

It depends what you are looking for but I would continue to scan the ads otherwise the ideal horse may just get missed.

Horses will appear during the run up to the start of Uni.

But, as you approach winter, so will the headshakers and sweetitch sufferers.

Good luck finding your desired buddy.

I agree with Tinap555 I always thought it was the best time to sell hence my horse being up for sale- but I am beginning to have my doubts about it all, it seems timewasters galore atm, and from what I have heard the other way to- people going to see horses not as advertised- can't remember it being this hard to sell or buy!

There is never a particularly good or bad time to look for a horse. The ideal horse for you may be put up for sale tonight, or tomorrow. or in a few months time, who knows? It may be up for sale already but isn't posted on the net. many horses are never advertised on the net. I have never actually bought a horse that was advertised on a website, one was in H&H magasine (could have been on net I suppose) & the other we found by word of mouth.

Don't feel that the net is the only place or infact the formost place for finding the horse you want, there are many more advertised elsewhere or not actually advertised at all but are for sale.
