Ive been thinking of getting a polite set as I have been riding out on the roads loads more.

I've just spent some time looking but can't find somewhere that do a cheap ish set.

Ideally I'd like the tabard, leg bands, breastplate and hat band...

I don't want to spend a fortune but the cheaper places only have 1 or 2 bits of what I want.

Just wondered if HHO had any inside polite knowledge!!

Cheers

Vicki AKA wanna be pretend police woman!!!

Well, I didn't want the polite stuff, just stuff that'll stop me getting taken out by idiots (esp after HHO thread) so I've got a hat band, leg wraps and tail wrap off fleabay for less than a tenner ;)

The Polite tabard lasted me about two months, but a jacket from Jewsons is indestructable, however the effect of the Polite range is greater, so if I ever hack on roads again I will be sewing the polite on to my Jewsons Jacket. still searching for the checked tape.

How did the polite tabard break?

I think I've got the 4X leg wraps, hat band, neck strap and tabard and delivery down to £66 which I don't think is too bad!

Ebay :)

The Polite tabard lettering/logo is actually quite flimsy (certainly for the money ), so you have to take good care of it - I keep mine on a hanger in my tack locker now. I've had it over a year and still going strong.

The stitching is flimsy and tore down the front, I did some repairs but it tore in another place, at the side this time. I only wore it on the horse, so one hour per day, then threw it in to my car, but it tore when riding and removing it. The martingale thingy was a bit short so it broke when horse bucked. The silver stuff tends to flake off, unlike the diamond pattern tape used on outdoor clothing.
I complained to main dealer, but they were not interested in complaints as they stated they had not sold it to me, so it was none of their business.
I also had a wait of six months to get a refund on an unfulfillled order. So you can be sure I won't be buying any more things from them.

Hmmmm that sounds a bit rubbish :(

Maybe I shouldn't buy it... Maybe it's better to just get some more noramal hiviz

Yup, for the money they are not well made. But that said, I will buy another when this one does conk it, as it makes such a HUGE difference to our safety.

YO made me laugh the other day - she has had peeps ask her if she has a copper with a horse on her yard ! Not a bad thing for peeps to be thinking ;)

Yeah that really is right. I just said to my BF that of all the money we spend keeping the horses, training, competing etc that £66 is a teeny drop in the ocean.

The picture that's going round on FB of the dead horse on the side of the road is the other reason why I'm looking more into it. Awfully sad :(

A good ex police jacket and a hatband should do the job.

Im a bit unsure of a jacket as I wouldnt wear it at this time of year and I wont do too much hacking off the yard in the winter (as have lots of riding round the farm)

I have ordered the boots, breastplate, band and tabard so at least on the occasions I do leave the yard Ill be **hopefully** a little bit safer.

Thanks everyone :)

I just have the tabard, a hat band, and leg wraps (Bertie Bassett style) - I only have the Polite tabard, and went cheaper for the rest. Simply too expensive for me. Get us a piccie xx

Will do! Lilly will think shes gone from racehorse to dressage/event horse to police horse!!!

Not sure what it will look like on the spottie one!!! Do you get spottie police horses?!!!!

I had a similar problem with a brand new exercise sheet. I complained that it had black marks on it, the stitching was appalling and part of the high viz wasn't stitched on. To be told by the owner of the polite range in not a very polite manner that " there was nothing wrong with the item, they have had no other complaints and it would only be dirty after being used on a horse so what did it matter" this was on my home phone that she decided to call one day and rant at me. I would never by anything else from them again.

A great branding idea on cheap tat.

Thanks, I have a feelingtp that all the black and white on it might be a bit lost on her!! Will look ok on the 2 bay ones though!

That is pretty good, I had already ordered it from the other site though and they gave another 10% off so wasn't too far from the cost of those ones

God that's terrible. Especially on a more expensive item. I had already ordered it and will try to look after it. Maybe I'll get my mum to sew up and iffy looking bits before I use it.

Awful customer service for you though
