Hiya

A lockable gate that can be locked/unlocked on horse back. It’s my drive gate so it’s annoying to have to walk down the drive and I’m sure someone’s going to pinch my mounting block but it’s not life or death. But so so so annoying.

In other news my horse went brilliantly today and I’m bursting with pride. The sky seems bluer, the birds singing sounds even better etc etc. I could squeeze him to death (and regularly do try). Anyway just wanted to share without seeing my husbands eyes glaze over! 🤷‍♀🤣

At last-but-one yard we had a hacking gate that was electric and slid across rather than a hinged opening. It opened with a combination keypad either side of it, which was easier for the YO than constantly replacing lost remote control fobs.

Put rising sticks/bars on the gate and the gatepost with a hole in each near the top and padlock them together at horse height?

Could you use an electronic door lock with a fob for while you're out on the horse with a sturdier back up?

We have this where I am now, during yard hours you can open it by pressing a button on a post (one at standing height and one at riding height!) and outside of those hours it's a keypad with a code to get in.
