Ok I think 6k is alot that doesn't state proven wins, you need to be winning and proving.

You are right to put 20mins away from carlise as I think a scotland trip will put a lot of people off.

I live in the north, and I wouldn't travel to scotland!

I know scotland puts everyone off! Its not really that far away!

I think she is worth 6k just because she has so much scope and you could do absolutley anything with her. she is also been the easiest 4/5 year old to do and anybody could ride her! Im gonna try do some wh classes on her thou theres not much on at the moment and shes goin 2 bsja at the wkend. She ready to do an intro but i cant decide whether to enter her for 1 or not because earliest i could do would be middle of april & was hoping id have her sold by then. Think i will advertise her locally and see what happens!

I would hang it out if you can, if she does start winning and doing very you could then even ask for more, but currently she isn't worth it on paper.

also, I say horsemart is the wrong place for this type of horse once you if/start winning.

I would think it would be a bad time to sell but I just sold one by word of mouth to the first person that came to see her. I think its just a case of having what someone else wants. Good Luck to you all though

Here is a horse that in my opinion is very over priced, If she's worth that Bears worth 6k!!!

14.2hh very pretty New forest x roan mare. Rising 5. Laid back attitude yet responsive. Excellent on the roads and has started to lead out in front. Loose schooled over jumps and shows a natural easy jump.
Excellent box, trim, clip. Nothing really fazes her. Has the looks and paces to show and the ability to jump. No vices. Easy to do. Ridden by timid and experienced riders. Only for sale as not made the height. A star for the future. OIRO £3500

prices seem to be such a nightmare - i am looking and have had people tell me i should pay 4.5 k then others say i need to spend 9k - is totally silly! (looking for a allrounder 16hh plus to sj xc and ode...)

I thought it would be slow moving, but we sold our coloured 4yr old for full asking price to the first person to see her (who called on the day she was advertised), and we had loads of enquiries. My YO also sold a horse to someone who enquired within hours of the advert going online. Can be done!

Problem with this mare I think is that she doesn't have much in the way of results, and you have said she will make a good RC allrounder. Most people who want to spend 6k will want something that is more than a potentially good RC allrounder - if she'd been there and got the tshirt it would be different. If she is that scopey and talented to be worth 6k I would try and compete her a bit more, and advertise her for what you think her true potential is.

Having looked at all the adverts, I think there is one common problem with all of them - the price. At the end of the day, if nobody is calling about the horse then you have either overpriced it, or not advertised its full value well enough. They all look like nice horses, but I learnt the hard way that there is a big difference between advertised price and the price horses will actually sell at. Its a hard pill to swallow, but I think if all these prices were lowered by 1-2k, the horses would sell quickly.

Weezy - I take your point. I have advertised her at what I was advised to by the person training her. I am flexible on money, quite prepared to consider an offer. Also, her competition experience is in the advert, and I have a list of her results so far to show anyone who is interested.
I would appreciate a PM to let me know how you would value her. As you said, horses are worth different amounts, to different people. I just want her in a good home where she will be used and appreciated.

Go to a small local show where there's a professional photographer. It'll only cost a fiver to go into the smaller classes and you should get a couple of good pictures - and a rosette to crow about if you're lucky

I think you really do have to price right to sell, i sold my pre novice eventer (avatar) just after xmas, he is bombproof, perfect hack etc, placed in pre novice, never had fault x.c. perfect dressage reg 70% + lovely easy to do horse, i sold him for 6k, to the most perfect home who adore him, their budget was 6k, and they wouldnt have looked at him if he had been advertised for more... my phone is still ringing now! I sold him on horsemart, did put him on horsequest just before xmas for 7k and didnt really have enough interest, but could have been bad time. I think he was very good value as safe and proven at affiliated level.

Must be! I have a lovely 16.2 5yo for sale at the moment, not even had a call. Just put her on horsemart again last night (HM805A2C2).

I agree she looks lovely and potentially well worth the money, 2 things do seem to come out fromt he add. The first that she has not yet affiliated at all, scondly it read that she is really only a good RC or low level affshowjumper which means the £8k price tag is bit of a push without any actually experience. It may well be she has scope for much more but the add does not read like that. Jumping 1.10 at home really does not mean much, as that could be struggling to get over a single upright. IMO

Hope that helps as I think she is a smashing mare and put her round a BN or Disco with a double clear or 2 and I think she'd be easily worth the pennies!

It took me a month to sell my lovely 7yo 16.2 TB just before xmas , I didn't have one phonecall for three weeks then I took him hunting because I was thinking of keeping him , updated the ad and got 5 phone calls on 2days . Then he sold to first viewer !!

eta - I wasn't asking silly money either for him , £2500 with everything he owned , including a 6month old albion saddle but in the end his new owners gave me 2500 a let me keep the saddle

Might not be too good for sellers but not sure it's much better for buyers. I've been to see 6 horses so far and despite asking questions before I went so as not to waste my time or the sellers the horses have not been as described. Will have a look at the ones people have mentioned on this thread.
