I find it really hard to plan the season what with missing shoes, weather, location, ballots dates, finances, and the decision as to when to move from intro to PN.....so in an attempt to be organised I keep an online calendar on my blog and this in my kitchen, as well as reminders on my phone and my outlook calendar at work!!

The little long calandar is social (non horsey) so you can see it's pretty empty!

The purple wall planner is horsey events, shoes, vet etc. Ballot dates are highlighted in green and all comps in pink!
The event map (thank you TPO)

is so I can work out what events are a suitable distance

Even with all this I find it hard to keep on top of planning and try to plan mopnth by month.

What tips or methods do you use to make life simpler?...

I have an A4 diary that lives in the kitchen with everything horsey in it - including copies of show schedules etc as well as this all my events get marked on the calender, mainly to make sure my stepdad doesn't double book himself if I need him to drive the lorry.

Don't worry - you are not alone - if I had the space I would have a wall chart like that

I just have a diary that goes EVERYWHERE with me, it has everything in it, ballot dates when entries open, I also have social in the same 1 so i cant clash by mistake. I also have when i have entered, what each horse has done every day and there results all in the same diary.

Glad it's of use!

I'm a total "Monica" when it comes to organising horse stuff so I think what've you've done is totally normal

I'm nearly as bad, got a word document with every possible event/comp I might do this year listed in it so can pick and choose what to do each month depending how things progress. Spent ages trawling websites to find suitable dates/venues as we're still at the baby stages. And yes, it's colour coded!
