Is this a bit rubbish or am I being impatient?

2 weeks ago tomorrow vet came and took bloods. Fri just gone I called at lunchtime to see if there was any news, receptionist said yes and the vet would call me to discuss before half 5. By half 4 I hadn't heard so chased and they said to call back Mon afternoon if I hadn't heard

I called about 2pm today and asked if they could email me the results but they said they need the vets permission for that and would chase up my call. I've still not heard anything. Is this me being impatient? Am I unreasonable to feel a bit annoyed I'm tired and stressed so not sure how rational my thoughts are

are they testing for something very obscure? I would expect the results the next day for a normal blood test
 
To be fair the hormone tests do take 7-10 days, normal bloods 24-48 hrs. And the receptionist absolutely shouldn't be giving out results unless it's a test with a very straightforward black and white yes/no. However you are not being impatient and do need to make a fuss. Unfortunately as with many things, if the vet has 10 tasks to do, but only time for 3, the person who shouts loudest will get phoned first.

I missed the bit about the hormone tests, but if any professional person who is charging large amounts of money for their services can't find the time for a phone call to the client, that's not acceptable.
 
I agree it's not acceptable, and it shouldn't be like that, but unfortunately it is occasionally the reality in a sector when most practices are chronically understaffed. I'm sorry for the OP that she has been on the receiving end of it on this occasion.
 
definitely not on, i’d keep pestering them until they get back to you🤣 my vets are usually brilliant at ringing back if they say they will, but there’s 1 receptionist who is just a bit naff - i kept chasing it until i got someone else😂
 
Depending on how your call goes, and if there are other good vets in your area, then I would consider writing an email saying that if you are not given the interpretation of the results that are in their possession by email or phone today then you will appoint another vet and you will let them know which vet you require them to hand the results over to so that they can be interpreted for you.

I know of several times where bloods have been taken but not sent off for some reason (I would assume someone has forgot) so I would have definitely chased within a week...but I am very impatient

I have text the vet this morning thinking her for her out of hours voicemail and asking when we can talk

It is very poor for the customer, but sometimes there isnt enough physical time / effort / energy from the vet involved to do everything, and some things get missed / dropped. There is a reason that vets drop out / burn out / have high suicide rate etc.

Yes I totally get that, I was more annoyed with the reception than anything but all sorted now
