I have recently had my horses backed, I was riding them a few times a week, but now and i'm sure most people are the same, it is far too dark by the time i get home. So i was thinking of seeing if i could get someone to come and ride them twice a week or so for me. Just to keep them going through winter where the weather allows it. It would just involve riding and only around the paddock/stables as i'm not confident to let someone take them out on the roads. Am i asking too much?
I thought it would be ideal for someone for some free basic riding??

Would it not be confusing to a recently backed horse to have 2 different riders, with 2 different ways of riding? I have just had donovan backed, and there is only one person allowed to ride him at the moment until he is really comfortable and confident.

I'd turn them away too. As the others have said, it would be confusing for them to have two riders. Also you say they would be ridden just around the stables, paddocks area. I think you might be looking at two nappy horses in the spring, who resent being asked to go further afield than (very) well-known territory.

In the spring, you could perhaps ask your other jockey to ride with you; that way you can be sure things are being done as you would like and that the horses aren't receiving mixed messages.

I agree with rosefolly, this could cause nappy behavior and the horse could get bored and into bad habits.I would turn away for winter months and get on again when the light/weather is better.

I should say the horses are both six, not youngsters as such. They have several riders anyway, as me and my partner alternate which horse we ride. They are kept at home.
