Is this a good pony for a nervous rider?

Its 15, but a bit speedy, doesn't like contact on its mouth and will fight a contact (supposedly reared when a contact was taken up whilst jumping) and wears a martingale even though has too be ridden on a lose reing, and has gone lame after being tried twice and jumped once?
Apparently for loan/sale as the owners daughter is giving up.

Alarm bells are ringing for me personally.

OMG most diffo not!

Sounds just like my first pony! I learned a lot ...but spent the first year being thrown off pretty much every time I rode. This is a very painful way to learn and I don't recommend it.

So my instincts were right. They have gotten it wrong once already, and I feel they are about to make the same mistake but they wont listen so I guess they will have to make a mistake again. The girl trying it actually blamed the girl who rode it for making it lame as it reared (which is what apparently made him lame).

I have not interfered at all, I just tried to explain to the girl that we didn't want to see her disappointed again.

Presume this is pony R is getting.Knew it at Oldfold many yrs ago.It is allegedly an ex JA pony that did something to his legs - tendons or something so the rumour had it.Girl that had it at time didn't jump him she did more showing stuff I think.
And no agree its not what she needs.Thought she was meant to be getting something a bit calmer/sensible.
But well......

yup. It just sound like myt sisters 1st pony, and I know as R islike I was at that age, that is is most definitely not what she needs! I think impatience is pushing this though as they haven't been looking long. They have a month to trial it first, so hope that if they do get it they do properly try it as they need to be sure this time!
I suggested that they approach Hayfield for a loan pony. If Crunch is still there she would be good for her!

If I remember correctly the girl that rode it was a good wee rider and she had her moments on the flat with him.
Must admit don't remember him being big maybe 14/14.2 and R really shot up in height lately.
Well at least its on trial first.
Yea Hayfield do that don't they loan them out for a bit to give them a break tho some of them can be right nutters out of riding school regime.

Nope not right at all. Saying that though Ty had exactly the same 'going forward' issues and I took him on after a 15 year break so stranger things have worked out. x
