I'm a regular poster on here but just hiding from friends potentially seeing me!

It's one of my friends birthdays soon and I was thinking about getting her a nice leather headcollar and getting her yearlings registered name engraved on a plate and put on it. The headcollar will probably be full size so that it can be used for a while!

What do people think? Would you like this as a present?

Ooh also! Do you think the headcollar should be black or brown? The horse is grey, I was thinking brown, but I'm not sure what colour she prefers and can't really ask!

As for colour, can you look at what other colours she uses & see what matches or would go with that? Or ask someone else to be subtle & find out for you?

Or even say you're thinking of getting one yourself & ask her what she'd get if she was getting one..? ;)

Hehe.. Good luck :D

Fab idea, and before getting it engraved, can you buy it and try it on the horse first?

I bought one for my pony and took the tags off. I then found it to be too small so I'm going to have to go buy another one :(

Unfortunately I can't try it on the horse as I live about 3 hours away from friend. He should mature at about 16/16.1 or there abouts so I'm just hoping a full would do the job :)

my sister did this for me for my birthday, i was rather surprised especially as we dont always get on well!!! so yes its a lovely idea, perhaps look at what colour tack she wears (black or brown) and match that??

I think that's a brilliant gift. Since he's a yearling, a full size should fit him for a while as he grows even if he eventually does become too big for it. At which point could she possibly remove the plate and put it on a new head collar?

I would say brown too! I think black looks a bit harsh on a grey but just my opinion.

Fab idea though wish my OH was remotely horsey as I'm seriously struggling this year as to what to get him.

Yes my dad gave me one in my late teens I treasured it and had it for years until some B knicked it out my trailer so yes it's a lovely gift
