Looking to maybe buy a new horse.. But I already have 2 geldings..and 1 stallion shetland.. Is it a big NO to looking to maybe buy a mare? They wouldn't run out together.. My shetland isn't in with the geldings but I have a big feeling it would all kick off if I had a mare..The next horse would be 16hh+ but these shetlands haha.. What do other people think? Should I just stick to finding another gelding?

yes it is the shetland would become very frustrated. That is cruel. Why is the shetland a stallion? Cant you have him gelded.

Completely depends on your shetlands temperament, my new mare was from a field of 2 horse geldings, a shetland gelding and a shetland stallion and as far as I know, they were fine... shetland stallion was used as a kids pony so obviously he had a very good temperament! The biggest gelding was the boss of them all. :)

My 16.3 mare went out on loan as a broodie - swiftly returned as seemed to turn into the bitch from hell. Probably not helped by having a stallion Shetland constantly trying to get at her. She is a really nice mare and has never behaved like that since so, no, I wouldn't risk it!
