I noticed this small scab type thing on my mare today, between her front legs, and the first thing I thought was that it may be a sarcoid/start of a sarcoid coming through?

I have the vet coming out next week for her jabs so will ask him then but just figured I would ask here too

Sorry the photo isn't brilliant!

My mare has recently had a sarcoid removed. To be honest, it looked just like that. My vet froze and now 6weeks on, it's looking fab!! Don't worry though, a pony down the road from us had them all over his face and legs and now he is sarcoid free!! :)

I'd watch her from now on though as they can get worse and even come back.

It does look like a start of one but couldn't say for certain. The vet will let you know for sure. Very difficult to decide what course of action to take. I have had a major sarcoid problem with my gelding last year. Had quite conflicting advice which made it difficult to make a decision as what the right thing to do. With the one you may have, some vets would say leave it and keep an eye on it, some would say to treat. After a lot of research, I decided not to go down the Liverpool Cream route but treated with homeopathy which I had excellent results. I know that this can be controversial but personally I made the right decision for my horse. I had various size sarcoids and some were banded too, which I would also recommend.

Certainly looks like it. Personally, I think the wait and see treatment just makes the problem more difficult to deal with as the sarcoid gets bigger.

I know of people who have had good results from Global Herbs Sarc-ex cream and the Sarc-ex powders. Global Herbs have a good veterinary help line so it might be an idea to ring for advice once your vet has confirmed whether or not it is a sarcoid.
