is this acceptable? ebay purchase

I bought some studs from world equine supplies via ebay on 16th august however they still haven't arrived, emailed the seller to advise and was told I would have to wait until they had reclaimed the item back or the value from royal mail before they would issue me a refund or repost... I only bought item as it stated they would be delivered by 22 nd and now I will have to buy a set from the tackshop. Has anyone else had probs with this seller and is it worth opening a case against them ?
 
That's not acceptable. A good seller would repay you straight away and reclaim from RM.

I'd start a case now and don't close it until you have your money back or the goods, whatever the seller says.
 
Never had a problem with that seller, but I would defo open a case against them. I use ebay a lot and wouldn't tolerate that response. Claiming back from royal mail takes forever. I'd get the ebay seller team in to make the decision, chances are they'll force the refund to you within the next few days.
 
I had a problem on Ebay (not the same item or seller) but i opened a complaint and Ebay looked into it.
i received my money back within mins of opening the complaint (i don't think they ever sent it!)
 
I have opened a case and they have 3 days to respond I think ( never done this before) never had any trouble before but the email they sent just seemed to be as if they didn't believe me and they are not wanting to refund until they have been re-imbursed by royal mail ....I have probs spent 600 quid in the last month so not going to lie about 20 quid...I was just quite annoyed with the response but didn't want to over react !.. the item was bought on 16th should have been with me no later than the 22nd and 28th today and still no item so hopefully ebay will look into it... can anyone advise how I escalate it into a claim from the resolution page? pm if prefer

I had a similar issue with hair colour, said it would arrive on the Thursday of the same week and didn't turn up by the following Monday, so I had to go to a salon supplies place to buy an alternative, at a higher costs! the ebay seller was really good, refunded the money straight away, no questions asked!!
