I have my 5 year old for sale atm and have had interest but nothing to say she's going anywhere just yet... So if I don't sell her in the next few weeks I'm thinking maybe I could find someone that would want to B.E her... She's rising 5 v well bred, moves beautifully ( dressage pro thinks she'll go advanced till the cows come home with an amature on board ) and showjumps very well, very neat and careful, makes super shape etc, jumping 1.10 courses at home, discoveries at shows... She's been xc training and jumped straight round everything... She's an angel to do in all ways etc etc.

She's my hombred baby and I'm only selling her as 1) I need to pay her mums vet bills - cancer diagnosed... And 2) I can't afford to get her out to shows and don't have time with a baby...
Do you think someone would be interested in BE-ing her on the condition that they take over her costs?? Almost like a full loan but to stay at home with me and I will do days they can't make it... This may sound harsh, but I don't want just anyone riding her ... It has to be a competent pilot who can produce a young horse properly... Then next spring ( or whenever really ) I will advertise her again with a percentage of her price going to her 'loaner'

Would someone be interested in this sort of arrangment do you think??

All ideas welcomed...

Xx

I dont see why not but the only problems i can see you facing is 1- keeping her at your yard so the person will have to be local 2- All costs to be covered by them? I think someone is more likely to go for 1/2 and 1/2! and 3- finding someone who fits all criteria and is also trustworthy and capable. Good luck on your hunt though she sounds like a dream x

I think you are unlikely to find someone that will do it to the standards that you would like who will pay the costs for her to event. I have occasionally ridden horses for friends and used my diesel if mine are going but they have paid the entries and other costs. This is still a good deal for both sides as her horse was brought on to a good standard and I had no additional costs. Speaking personally I wouldn't take on another horse pay all its costs for a possible percentage of sale. Sorry but I think that is realistic :(

Why not advertise through the local pony clubs etc to see if there's any local interest?

Not sure realistically how many people would want to add value to a horse without owning it though.

Sarah Jane ... I totally get where you're coming from ( my oh is a pro sj'er so we have comp liveries etc ) I meant someone more along the lines of a good y/r that doesn't have the money to buy a good horse but does have the money to run one... So really a full loan as such of a talented young horse... Maybe I should stick an advert up in local tack shops etc... Maybe someone would be interested...

It's worth a try :)

This is the set up my friend is looking for at the moment. She is having a bit of a year "gap" after finishing university to save up and afford something decent. In the mean time she wants a project to event and bring on. She is a competant rider who can provide an outstanding list of references (her trainer is an Irish medalist, friend has competed at Olympia etc) etc but can't afford the outlay of a decent horse right now. Equally whilst she is saving for a year she doesn't want to not be riding anything.

The only problem I think you'll have is possibly keeping at your yard. With the case of my friend, she has facilities at home so whatever she finds she would like to move home.

But, I ride and compete someone elses horses, and do it from their yard. I'm more than happy with the horse staying at that yard because the facilities are incredible and it's nice having the horses owners around to monitor our progress. I've learnt so much from the owner. Although, it helps that I don't pay costs so I can spend a little bit more on fuel and time travelling to that yard ... when there are yards within walking distance from my house.

It would certainly be worth advertising locally and just seeing what you get. If nothing comes of it and you would consider loaning further afield please PM me :)

I think if you were willing to let her go to another yard you could have your pick of young riders, apprentices working with professionals, competent amateurs who can't afford to buy, etc. If you want to keep her at your place then it's down to luck - how many suitable riders live within 45minutes drive from your yard?

The thing that will put a lot of people off is the idea of putting a lot of hard work into what sounds like a very nice youngster and then it being sold. I think you'd have to offer a decent amount of % of sale for it to cover all their costs and their time at the end of it.

Trolt... Will advertise locally but in the meantime definatly think about your friend... Thanks. Will be in touch if interested xx

No problem :) Good luck with finding a local rider. Hope you get something sorted.
If you want any more information about my friend then feel free to give me a PM. Friend is actually a member on here (old member) so if you're interested let me know and I can PM you her username. We're in Suffolk (so just over 2 hours away from you) XxXxX
