My pony lives out and has a shelter that has no door. It has rubber matting and shavings on top, however a recent storm has blown rain into the shelter and the shavings are very soggy. Will standing in this be bad for his feet?

ok thats what I thought, just thought I would hear what other people thought

Mine live in shelters with 6' openings and sometimes the rain blows in, but they usually find a dry place to stand and the damp bedding has never done them any harm. If your shelter faces into the prevailing wind though I would consider changing it .

Damp shavings as long as not soaked with wee will be no worse than a wet field. Not so much the wet that does the harm as the amonia and bacteria in dirty bedding. So i would have thought fine.
