Is this fair- selling my horse and pulling out of sale-opinions please

Totally agree........unfortunately it means can never ride a dressage test prior to the day without him learning it and anticipating every movement!

Also has to have four locks and clips on his door or else he's out of the stable before my back's even turned.
 
I have taken my mare into the arena with no warm up whatsover(due to traffic jams) and being so clever she knwe what to do, went in and won!
 
She is a beautiful little mare, had i the finances, i'd buy her in an instant. I wouldn't let those people touch her with a bargepole, you know they'll ruin her. She's a stunning little horse, I would try advertising her elsewhere too, but I certainly wouldn't sell her to people like that.

She sounds great and I think you are being very sensible and responsible to choose not to sell to these people - for their sake and your mares.

Only point is, I can sort of see where they are coming from. You say she lives in or out - so they want her to live out;) Also, you describe her as green (jumping and only just starting lateral work) but also as a schoolmistress - so I'd guess that will attract fairly novicey people who want a nice safe horse to learn on.
 
She would live out with some preperation- ie- spend some time out earlier in the year but they wanted to take all her rugs off and throw her out!
 
Having read your advert, I'd have to say that it is quite contradictory on a few points. Perhaps you would be better to re-write the advert and be very clear about what you are selling?

For what it's worth; no I wouldn't sell to this person either. I wouldn't call up the parents and list off why I won't sell; I'd just make a blanket-statement and say that you don't think that this situation will suit your horse...end of. Lots of luck finding the best possible owner for horse.

Please don't sell her to these people, she's far too nice for a novice owner. If you recall I was quite interested in her for myself a few months ago but instructor told me to steer clear of the cribbing etc. I also felt having tried several Trakeheners by then they'd probably be a bit too clever for me! She's too nice, say no.
 
idiots!Only thing I'd say is yes you are trying to sell it, but I'd never do anything I wasn't comfortable with to sell the horse.
I would also have the horse conveniently sold if they weren't appropriate..but that's just me!
 
NO NO NO, tell them to get lost, blimey are they local?? Very few people get on with tb's however calm and how dare she tell you what to do with YOUR HORSE! sounds like bad home and bad vibes all round to me!

I would reword you ad and maybe not make her sound like such a perfect easy ride and to handle and then hopefully any muppets will be put off! - still amazed at some people, where on earth do they get off telling you to leave rugs off!!!

Incidentally any talented horse always does have its hang ups or vices, even Mr Titch is evil on the ground or in the stable, its only when he has tack on he is Mr Cool!!
 
I'm just confused as to why they even came to see your horse as it sounds like it is clearly NOT what they need?!?! I've been riding for 13 years, so not a novice and I could tell you that I wouldn't be good enough for your horse (she is GORGEOUS!) so why a nervous child would think they are (or I am guessing mummy and daddy wanted a pritty howrsey for darling daughter to show off).

I am soo glad that I will not sell mine - finding a loaner was hard enough but at least I knew I had the right to just go and collect him if I wasn't happy. I do just seem to be lucky with loaners/sharers though.
 
for a start they disrespected you and your friend...saying that you ruined her natural paces. what a croc of [****].

and anyone with any decent manners will not hit a horse that they dont know and doesnt even belong to them, so no - i think you are perfectly within your rights to pull out of the sale. after all its not a car were talking about!
