ok, went to see a horse, he was perfect, so we put a deposit down subject to him passing a 5 stage vetting, vetting was organised for tomorrow,

owner just rang and said that the vet cant come till monday at the earliest, and that she was sending our deposit back as she had so much interest she wanted to show him to other people tomorrow,

i rang up the vet who said she had cancelled the apointment, (am furious at this point) so i asked if he could still come tomorrow and he said was fine, rang her back, and told her vetting was organised for tomorrow, but think she has realised she has under priced him and is going to try and get more for him,

cant believe she would tell us he couldnt make it when she had actually cancelled it! if i hadnt thought the horse was worth would have walked away by now, but i dont want to lose him! is she being totally unreasonable?

What!! Yes she is being unreasonable!

Was this the one who thought a 5 stage would be too much for the horse, could she have something to hide and know he wont pass a 5 stage so is hoping to sell him to someone who wont want one?

I would say that was a bit underhand! But as you say, she has probably been surprised at all the interest in him and is now wondering if she can get more money for him.

Cheeky of her to cancel a vetting that you booked though!

i said if she thinks he will fail then we will walk away, she said there is no reason he should fail, but that the phone hadnt stopped ringing and she could sell him tomorrow if she wanted to, i think she will tell the other people that she has someone offering asking price and they can offer higher if they want him

That is so annoying. I would be fuming if I were you but in the end it might just be one of those things you have to live with.

if he passes the vetting tomorrow mum and i are going to drive up straight away and pick him up before she sells him to someone else, am worried she might cancel the vetting again before that though

I really cant believe how she is being, its not like you are a possible time waster, you paid the deposit and arranged the vetting!

Good idea about picking him straight up!

I would bet money that this woman knows fine well the horse won't pass the vetting, why else would she try and put you off a 5 stage for no good reason and then cancel it??

Sorry, but I would save your money even trying to bother with the vetting and walk away.

I dont mean to pee on your parade. But i wouldent trust them as far as i could throw em!.She will probably re-cancel the vetting tomorow morning or ring you up and tell you that she sold him to some one else.I hope i am wrong and you get the horse.Good luck though!.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmm hang on, she said the vet called her - vet said she called him - I take it this isnt YOUR vet then, or one that you have independantly instructed?

is a local vet, mine wont go so far away, he was instructed by us, and rang her to organise time, she then cancelled, and rang me to say he couldnt make it till monday, so i rang him and he was very confused and said he would carry on as planned and vet him tomorrow for me, he isnt my usual vet but one recommended to me in the area

i know how cr*p this is but you'r doing everything correctly and if it's ment to be it will happen, if not it's another cra8ppy timewaster in the horse world. Please don't get pushed into buying just cos SHE said phone is going mad, owner can easierly make list of folk interested if you pull out
fingers crossed right one for you

Has she readvertised him for more? How would a vetting be more hassle than sending your deposit back AND spending the time showing the horse to other people?

Sorry, I'm really not convinced there is nothing wrong with the horse. Really hope I'm wrong though, I usually am lol!

See that is odd, I had absolutely NO contact with any of the vets that have vetted my horses that I have sold - the prospective purchaser has done all the contacting to both parties

i would be FUMING!!! how dare they!! i would be furious and me being me, want something legal to happen, she has already had an unwritten contract drawn by the deposit, why else would you have given a diposit in the first place unless you were sealing the deal?
