is this fair?

weezy, same thoughts too! Is it not your vet or a vet your vet has recommended??? Would not have the owners vet. Just my humble opinion. Not to say her vet would pass if it was not sound etc... but ....

I'm afraid the cynic in me says that you have just had a lucky escape! I would suggest that there is something wrong with the horse and that it won't pass a vetting therefore she is waffling on about loads of people calling her to try to get you to part with the full amount.

She quite obviously doesn't want the horse vetted for some reason - BEWARE!

Hey MH

Just watch this woman isnt seeing that you love the horse and trying to whip you up into a bidding frenzy (or buying frenzy) that doesnt even exsist!
Keep your sensible head on, she could be making the whole lot up to try and get you to cut corners and perhaps not notice something you would otherwise.

Good Luck and I really hope it goes well for you xx

i thought the same thing, but my conclusion was ...

1. she knows he will not pass a vet

2. she knows for the price he is advertised for she can sell him without a vetting

3. she thinks she can sell him for more due to amount of interest ( i think he is worth more)

my feelings are if 1 is true and he fails then i lose vetting money and move on, worth the risk as super horse

There is also another problem for her......if you have him vetted and he fails....then she is legally bound to inform others if they ask about vettings! She won't want that I doubt.

no she wont like that, makes me think that if she thought he might fail it would be easier to just tell me, and then show him to other people(without him having failed a vetting), thats why im sure its not her knowing that he will fail

This is dodgy but it happens unfortunately. I saw a horse I liked so it was all confirmed that I was to have the horse on a weeks trial, transport was all booked etc. 2 days before transporter was due to pick him up she rings and says "some other people have come to see him and they want him, so either you buy him or they'll take him" WHAT?!

nothing as dodgy as horsey peeps!

Madhector what is it you are looking for?

Just incase this one did go wrong, I used to work at a point to point yard and have had some of the best horses from the lady I worked for there, usually ones that were too slow to race, always under 2k and always sane and healthy, based in noth yorkshire if its not too far for you!
you just seem to be having such an ordeal, I dont know if she has anything at the mo but she can always find good horses and is the most honest person I know.

Nothing worse than horse hunting, I really hopes this boy flies through the vetting and only his owner is dodgy!

oh LOL, well just PM me if you want more info, hopefully you wont because Im keeping everything crossed that this chap bloody passes!

Thank god you dont have to take their owners too!

ha ha of course they will!

Ive changed many a plan to see horses, including hiring cars, flying across the country etc, so at least you arent that bad!!

I once went to see a chap and said that I liked horse and would buy subject to a vetting. He said that he had priced it low as he didn`t want the hassle of a vet!
Needless to say, I walked away.

She probably thinks that she can get more as she has had a lot of enquiries, but how many have arranged a viewing, and its not to say that any one of them would buy him. I would play her at her own game, just tell her that your offer stands for a week and tell her that if she hasn`t sold him in that time, to get back to you and if you are still interested, then you will arrange a vetting.
She is out of order for sending back deposit.
There is probably nothing wrong with the horse but because you want to buy him, she may think that she can get more for him, but will realise that not everyone likes the same sort of horse. He may be your ideal partner but no-one else gets on with him. Good Luck, I hope that everything works out for you.

Definately pull a sickie, and get there for the vetting. If that was me, with the amount of piddling round this woman has done I would be intruiged to see if it passes or not, and want to ensure I got first dibs if it did pass.

Good luck xx

There is nothing stopping her from letting you do the vetting, and then pulling out still. There is nothing that says she HAS to sell you her horse, rightly or wrongly.

If he is backing off now, I would be concerned.....
