This dog has killed another dog, has been used as a stud, has not been neutered, is 7 years old and no longer fits in, if I had allowed this to happen and my circumstances were changing beyond my control I would pts, it may not be very PC but how can anyone seriously pass on an older dog that cannot be trusted with others, is he one a breed rescue could take on?

No of course it isn’t fair - the fact that he is being advertised on Preloved says it all ? It isn’t his fault, he had stupid owners who didn’t put the necessary control measures in place and suffered the consequences.

Would I offer him a home if I had the right circumstances? Absolutely, yes

Do I think he will find a home with the right circumstances? Nope, not at all ???

Wow umm wow! It's definitely not fair and very sad to see. Who's going to take this poor dog on?! I'd PTS if I couldn't keep him.
A breed specific charity might take him in but The Dogs Trust and Blue Cross don't take it dogs with *known* aggression.

Poor dog.

Yeah but he's blue, innit ? has been used at stud, now 'too old'.
They've made money from him and are selling him, basically.
There are these amazing things called fences and dog runs, I am sure he would cope. It's perfectly possible to keep mature male dogs separately, safely and for them to have a nice life.

I am not so sure he is the 'much loved pet' the advert describes him as. Right at the bottom of the advert he is declared as having had puppy jabs and nothing more - he is 7 years old. Much loved pets don't miss their annual jabs, plus the comment about being allowed to run for his exercise for the last few years.

Is he a farm guard dog gone wrong ? the ad is clearly stating he is an aggressive dog and as such a peaceful end may be the kindest thing for the poor chap.

It's not unusual for GSDs to show same sex aggression, he's not a fighting dog, there's not a mark on him, and it does not follow that it means the dog will be aggressive to humans.
He's just an unusual colour who has produced for them and, I hope I'm wrong, has now served his purpose and is getting in the way of their big plans ?
The death of the other dog is sad but it's a management issue.
I used to live at holiday accommodation where dogs were welcome and I've stayed loads of places with mine where the proprietors have their own dogs.
It's perfectly doable when everyone is sensible and you know how to operate a padlock.

To be honest, if he was a different breed i'd think they were advertising a fighting dog and have worded it so the advert doesn't get pulled. Hopefully that's not the case.

It's making him sound like the perfect bait dog isn't it?

If he was local, if I didn't have another entire dog, if he was younger, lots of ifs and I was looking for a dog I'd consider him as dog aggression is manageable and people friendly is great. I sure as hell wouldn't pay for him though!

ETA Obviously I'm well known as a sucker for a hard luck story and a challenge ;)

I thought a dog would have to be put down if it killed another dog or was the dog that died owned by the same person?

Poor dog. He could have a nice life with the right person but doubt he will get that.
the owners should get his jabs up to date and castrate him before they even think about rehoming. The money thing is difficult because if he goes free he will end up God knows where. I certainly wouldn't pay £450 for him and then have to pay another few hundred to get him sorted out.
Feel so sorry for him.

Poor dog. Moronic owners.
He’s outlived his usefulness (producing “rare” coloured pups ?). If he were a “much loved pet” the owners could very easily make a few changes to ensure he could stay with them (kennel/run, fencing, lock doors - it’s not rocket science! ?). I hope he finds a home that deserves him but asking for £450 for a 7 year old dog is not how to go about it.

Poor dog. Used to produce "rare", as in non recognised colours, and as he is getting older they want rid of him. I can seem him ending up as either a guard dog or on a puppy farm, as 7 certainly isn't too old for a stud. If the owners aren't prepared to make the adjustments needed they should pts rather than sell him to god knows what sort of home.

I was browsing a site that sells second hand stuff recently and I saw an ad for a guinea pig. The ad was written by someone who said they were selling it because their daughter had got too old for it ?‍♂️
How does someone not understand that an animal is a sentient being, not a toy
