Is this form of advertising allowed?

Have noticed a few people are putting websites under their postings. Surely this amounts to advertising particularly as some of them are seeking sponsorship?

Considering admin turn a blind eye to one poster who only ever posts links to their high-end horse sales website (though the links are never to horses for sale), which IMO is far more blatant advertising/promotion of the site/awareness raising for their business than people thinking a message in a sig will get them sponsorship, I really don't think anything will (or even should) be done about this!
