I have the first mats, from CarpetPac. Fab mats and fab company!!!! I have 5 stables kitted with them and some of my liveries have them too. Much better than the bobbled mats too (as they come from China and are harder to sweep)

Also if you can stretch to having your whole stable done, do it! Def worth it

We have the 2nd mats and think there great but would be happy with either, as better for the horse/pony. We have a straw bed and it means we don't have to put loads in, just enough to be comfortable.

Def worth doing whole stable even with straw bed.

I muck out everyday and leave bed up, stable is well ventilated. You can buy disenfectant powder called stable zone but haven't needed it yet.
About half of the yard use straw on rubber others use hemp on rubber.

So no don't find it smelly or wet

I am currently purchasing rubber matting. Work has them all stabled on matting and straw and they're all easy to muck out and none smell.

I have a stable matress which is amazing but expensive .One of our horses poured the ground by the door when he was on box rest and we bought one of the first ones from Balsall Common [ which is where they are] We did buy the larger size [4 x 6] and put it in the doorway and it has worked well. I think you will need the larger size

I have a stable and got lock together rubber matting from costco for £10 for 2.67 square metres, 4 packs would fit 3.6 x 3.6 metre stable
