Hi

I have been lurking around for a while however i only decided to register today!

I was just wondering if anyone might be able to point me in the direction of a 15-16hh, safe, snaffle mouthed, confidence building and not too forward going first horse type, that also can pop around a 3' course and hack alone in all trafffic??

is this too much to ask for a budget in the region of 6k? Any ideas where i might find this horse around the hampshire/wiltshire area (and a little bit beyond)?

any tips on finding mr/mrs right :) ?

My best friend is selling one but she looks to have been snapped up already, 2nd people viewing want to have her vetted next week, she's going to have a look at where they want to keep her tomorrow so if that doesn't work out I'll pm you the ad.
I do know if another but they are looking for little over £6k for that one? She's consistently been in top 10 at BE 80, but doesn't quite take to the XC section of BE90, happy to sj 3' though and working elementary dressage. I can check if she is still for sale if you pm me you email? She's near guildford.

Oh also you might want to consider a couple of dealers? Have only ever heard good things about clip clop traders in Sussex. I also know if a gelding for sale 16'1, has been known to throw a tiny buck when v excited but has massively rebuilt current owner's confidence. He's been competing be80 and 90 successfully too and is on market for £7k. We aren't too far from you in south bucks/Berkshire/icon borders. Only know of this many cos I do the mail outs for the RC!

Been there done that. So many many people want the same or very similar. I wanted sane sensible RC type 5-10 yrs

I know others who have horses for sale will disagree BUT I can't stress enough how much IMHO if this is the type you want and the horse is advertised more than 2 wks, and its not in the middle of nowhere then it is not what they say it is so don't waste your time

I was looking twice and found the same thing both times. Travelled over 1000 miles saw 15+ horses and got nothing

Then I was strict and only looked at new adverts BOTH times I bought the first horse I saw and BOTH had only been advertised within 12 hours!!! and second time it was in the recession too

The point I'm trying to get across is that there are lots of people looking for similar you only have to see how many threads are on here! How many of them say they have been to see loads and were no good so that proves my point. Also proves buyers are waiting. That can only mean if they are still for sale they are not what you want either.

Good luck the good thing is you have a good budget so shouldn't be too difficult. Pm Janet George on here see if she has anything. She mostly has young horses BUT occasionally gets one that would do you fine. She is 100% won't sell if she thinks its the wrong horse for you

I would have thought you'd get that for your budget, you may just have to travel a little further out to find it? You don't actually give the type of horse you're after i.e tb warmblood, heavier or age etc? But here's a few i found within budget that may be suitable but have to travel.

Soulful I totally agree - friend's mare is 110% what it says in the advert, she's never going to be a worldbeater but will carry everyone from a complete novice to an experienced rider and is a pleasant ride for all of them. She does a consistent prelim/novice test and will jump xc and sj safely. She's had 2 viewings, first lot said they really liked but wanted their instructor to come and try before vetting and been a bit complacent about arranging, in mean time second people have viewed and want to buy. They aren't around long if are described honestly and priced fairly!
However competitiondiva i disagree a bit about budget comment, friends mare on for £4k and personally wouldn't expect to pay more than that, maybe £5k for something as a good RC allrounder, assuming it doesn't need the talent to go above novice dressage and say 90cm jumping?

There are many on Horsequest at the moment, just a few to look at
32453 35602 35202 35051 35160 36498 38055 37636

If you go on search you can put the number in.They are all within budget, some may be a little too quality, but I have tried to pick sensible sounding types.

Thanks I nearly didn't post, as in the past I have and got some awful replies from people selling :(

I was really lucky my WB was less than half the budget OP has and according to my DR instructor has talent to get to at least med probably higher (if mom could ride lol) SJ does 1.10 and still scope. So they are out there like I say IF your there first :D

Oh yes there are some bargains out there to be found definately! We bought my OH's old horse for £3500 a few years ago and she was another excellent uncomplicated RC type, had intermediate team chased as well.

Bargain :D

my lad was £2400 5yr WB very green though BUT perfect temperament. Does whatever the book says :D
Had him a month and local RI offered double HA no chance

Lol yes I paid same as you for my current youngster, he's definitely worth substantially more than that now! But I wouldn't sell him for the world!

Get yourself a nice uncomplicated IDxTB, they are so sweet natured and make great RC horses! Bought mine for 4,700 in april and he's brilliant :D Done a lot of work with him since I bought him with his schooling but he's always placed and has a suprisingly good jump on him schooling up to 4"3 at home with me!! Really can't faoult him, would recommend the breed to anyone, sounds like you've got a good realistic budget and know what you want (: Good luck, hold out till you find the right one, may have taken me over 6 months but I got there in the end!
