My cob is thought to be a headshaker, after getting a camera put up his nose looking for lumps and bumps etc and all the other checks there was nothing so vet just said proberbly headshaker.
He is now ridden in a nose net and fly guard that blocks out bright sunlight. When i rode him today just around his field he didn't shake his head or anything when in walk just like any other normal horse, then when i did canter and trot work he started blowing and tossing his head around and his nose was streaming and he put his head right down to the floor like an inch from the floor, is this just normal for a headshaker or could it be a respiratory problem? It took him 5 minutes and then he was fine again

My horse does blow more when I canter him in a nosenet, I imagine because it inhibits the breathing a little. He is also a mild headshaker, the net stops him shaking his head though. He recovers fine afterwards. Not as severe as yours but hope this helps!

The more oxygen they take in during faster work, the more they irritable they become. An equilibrium net won't hamper his breathing althought some of the other nets that are on the market do (the mesh material they are made off is very fine and some over the whole of the mouth with does restrict the breathing as they are breathing in the air they have blown out).
Are you sure he was not wanting to rub his nose on the ground? if his nose was streaming, its natural for them to lower the head carrage to allow the fluid to drain out.

yeah he proberbly was wanting to rud his nose on the ground as when you halt him he always turns round and rubs in on your boot
