Ok, my husband thinks i'm weird, my mother is also a little worried about me...
I have started loving TWEED!

i looked at a picture of the queen the other day and found myself admiring her tweed trousers and waistcoat, i found a gorgeous tweed coat online yesterday - £550!!!
it would appear i'v found a rather expensive taste, what makes it so damn expensive?
Is this normal for a 28 year old?, anyone else loving the tweed look? or is it just me... please just one person say they agree,
....and no i'm not talking 'Toad of toad hall' tweed here!!

OMG you are turning into my mother! LOL. When you get yourself a wicker shopping basket and join the WI you really need to worry.

Anyway, I think it shows you have class and taste.

You need Harris tweed...as woven by little Highland Islanders in the Outer Hebrides....best stuff...but dearest too.
I however, don't like tweed as it reminds me of my hitchhiking youth when I travelled through Harris in the back of a van whilst under the influence of illegal substances and was sick, sick, sick in Stornoway....Sorry to anyone from there...

i'm amazed, i haven't been shunned from the H&H forum...

i suppose the response may have been a little different somewhere other than a 'horse' forum, but hey. it's acceptance of my eccentricities and that's good enough for me.. thanks guys!

wicker shopping basket.. where do i get one of those?

ooh good idea, i'm sure you'll love the coat - i'll go find it now!

Joules have a stunning waistcoat in their recent catalogue!

i am seriously interested in the wicker basket thing, but thought the WI was going a bit far, although i did think about making some home made jam the other day...

The shop I work in sells a lot of shooting clothing. There are some gorgeous tweed coats this year. And although not glamorous the traditional tweed shooting coats are incredibly warm!

Not wanting to boast (well not much anyway!) but my OH bought me one of the Dubarry jackets very similar to the one in the top pic for xmas last year. It is fantastically well made and really warm but I don't think you're supposed to wear them around horses!

I have "shown" the gorgeous tweed shooting coats to my OH on our last two visits to the local tack shop. I am not sure how many more times he will have to be "shown" them before he understands what I want for Christmas.

I like the cheaper one better actually, the top one looks like it would date quickly. Alexander James do some nice tweeds incidentally and if you can get to a WI market the home made cakes and stuff are toptastic!

yay, forum is back
