I have no experience of buying ponies, and do not know the market for them at all, but at that price I would like him to be younger...sorry.

It may be that I am totally off though!

thanks for the opnions, will expand abit more now..
i know this pony VERY well. I have ridden it numerous times. Im not going to say anything about it because it is unfair on them, but lets just say i know for a fact that they have lied at least twice in that ad. Its been advertised for a few months now and theyve had noone come to try him.

I cant believe theyre asking that much, but i guess thats ponies for you...

this is interesting.........

on another thread, we have Thea's horse being valued at £2500, mainly because of his age (13) and lack of competition record. this pony is also 13, and has quite an impressive record, and has an £8000 higher price tag. So what are we judging these prices on? Age, competitiveness, height? there seems a huge gap here!!!! personally, I would value this pony nearer the £6000-£7000 mark; he's obviously an excellent little man, who could offer somebody a lot of fun and rozzies, but, having seen my friend just sell her 16.1hh Novice eventer (9 yr old) for £10,500, i think this price is a little steep.

That's an awful lot of money! I'm assuming JC is something like grade C/possibly B over here?I.e generally jumping 90cm/1m? you would be very lucky over here to get 5K I think.

You only have to win £100 on ponies to become a JC, whereas you have to win £1000 to become grade B. Yeah, she mostly jumps 90cm opens with him.

Except you have just gone on to make quite a damaging statement....

well i think as said a little expensive, also i think anyone who would condsider paying that sort of price is going to do their homework pretty well and is likely to know people already on the circuit so is unlikely they will get away with lying about it. that said it looks a super pony and can obviously jump well, is prob going to be great for teams so i would think more like £7500 realistically for it.

Having had to keep children in ponies for a few years now I very much doubt they'd get £10,500 for a 13.2hh with only £109 notional winnings. That sort of money will get a pony who will jump and, importantly, has jumped big 13.2hh tracks - I know this from experience! It's also the case at this time of year when children are coming out of heights at the end of the year that parents price up ponies but they rarely go for those prices. 2/3 of the inflated price is about normal, but only from my experience.

Hope the bay pony gets a good home!

It's a small world, could be only a matter of time before someone who knows these people directs them here to read you saying they have lied in the advert.
