Hi, I was just wondering if it is possible to pick up a 3 or 4 year old potential sports horse for around £1000? Or am I just being really optimistic?!

Well i have a gorgeous DWB x TB I am about to back, who would be available for that to a fantastic home as my circumstances mean I have to let him go. So I would say yes it is possible, but you would have to look carefully to find one that is potentially good and not a crock.

If its not backed or still very green I am sure you could pick it up for £1000 but have a 5 stage vet and bloods done, sometimes there is a reason they are so cheap 
Dependant on your experience, what about trying to find an ex racer? If you look hard enough you can get a real decent one for that money if its a failed racer. Same applies, get a 5 stage vet done! I know some top event horses are ex racers. (Can't remember the names off the top of my head though!)

I do love thoroughbreds, but after working in a prepping yard with yearlings and knowing how much stress their young bodies are put through, I think I might avoid them!! I'd prefer a warmblood/warmblood x type as I showjump mainly.
