Really need to exercise tonight as competing at BD regionals on Thursday. We have a lot of snow still, roads are fine but its dark when I finish work. Next doors arena [which I use] is still covered in snow. I tried to ride in it last night but she has heart bar hind shoes on to help her heels and the snow just balled up even with grease in and it was a nightmare to get out and she was really high off the ground and her foot was at a terrible angle within one walk round. Do you think it daft if I put thick socks over her hooves then bandaged her legs to keep them on. Or is that stupid?

What you are then doing is providing a 'key' for the snow to get a hold of as the socks are pushed up into her hooves. I'd think it would be even worse however I suppose you might get away with packing her hooves with something like plasticine which would stop the snow getting in and getting a grip and in theory should provide a surface that the snow can't cling to.
