Is this suspicious do you think?

On the 9th November my beloved Scooby Bear died suddenly and my vet thought an aneurysm. He had shown no symptoms beforehand whatsoever.

Today my immediate neighbours 8yo Doberman bitch was playing in the garden with her other dog and came into the house, staggered and died immediately or what appears to be the same thing. No symptoms beforehand.

Would you think something odd going on... poison perhaps or just heartbreaking co-incidence?

Agree, about a PM or blood tests.

Although two of my grandmother's sisters died of aneurysms and they were dead before they hit the ground, with no prior symptoms, not sure how that translates to dogs.

Dobe has been buried already as they were so upset. Should I bloodtest Honey and/or Asty? They have another dog as well. I'm going to speak to vet tomorrow to be on safe side.

Feel so **** for them. Their marriage had just broken up and the wife had moved out yesterday and was having dogs tomorrow. Poor husband was at home with the two dogs when the bitch died.

Speaking from bitter experience I can tell you how slug pellets work.Firstly the dog gets tremors, after an hour or so the dog will be convulsing..that continues until death. One teaspoon worth of pellets is enough to kill a medium size dog like a lab..or in my case ,a bull terrier. It is a horrendous death, violent ,distressing..all this happened despite immediate washing soda induced vomiting.Thankfully until "the decision" was made Thelma was under deep sedation.

No slug pellets don't fit the death of both dogs. It was absolutely instant dogs dead in under a minute. No symptoms beforehand whatsoever. It was light flicking off a lightswitch.

I spoke with my vet this morning and she didn't think poisoning fitted the symptoms both dogs showed. She said some viruses such as parvo virus can do this. But again both dogs showed no signs of illness whatsoever. My dog had been playing with me 10 mins before and her dog had been playing in the garden with her other dog. Both 100% healthy dogs.

The other thing that I have seen first hand that mimics your own experience was strychnine poisoning (not my own dogs), one minute fine, next dead. Mole bait put out by the estate gamekeeper.

ok, vet has just called back and she has been on to the toxicology labs and the symptoms of both dogs does not fit any poison.

The dobe bitch did have thyroid problems so it could be a massive stroke linked to the thyroid problems.

The other thing is all three dogs in the past week had some coughing and light vomiting. So, it has been recommended we worm them for lungworm to be on the safe side.
