Many of you have already answered previous posts of mine regarding horses I am looking at. You have always given me sound advice, and although I may not have liked it (because you weren't saying 'yes') - I have appreciated your honesty.

Previous horses I have considered have had arthritis, been green, too young, been underweight etc

Just to recap - I have been riding for a year and have some experience in looking after a friend's horse for a 5 week period. I haven't progressed as far as jumping and would not describe myself as a particularly assertive rider, I sometimes get my aids a bit mixed up and can confuse a horse - think this is what caused my friends horse to buck on me on one occasion (poor thing).

This one looks perfect to me (except I'm in Kent and she is in Devon).

Sounds ideal for you and at that price you can afford to hire a horsebox and Hey girl we all were novices at the start and had long learning curves, some of them must have been good that's why we are all still riding and owning horses. If she's still for sale go for it.

I'm very sorry to say this, but looking at the pictures where she's standing, I would say she has trouble with her front legs.

She looks to have a swollen knee on her near side, the off side front leg looks looks filled also, and the angles of her pasterns don't look the same, although that could be the way she's standing.

None of this may affect her, but if you decide to go and see her, and you like her, make sure you have her 5 stage vetted.

Sensibly priced horse that seems to have done it all. Almost seems too perfect! Give the owner a ring and have a chat about Molly, looks like a lovely type that needs a new home and you are probably just right for her

ETS oops only looked at the jumping pic. Wouldn't worry too much about the lumpy leg but check it out with the owner. She is priced to sell so I think that and her age has been taken into account.

Aww bless her she sounds like a sweetie, you two may be a really good match, you can only go and try her. x

I agree with faerie666 - looks to me like she might have front leg probs - defo appears to have big knee on near side. Speaking from experience I am always very wary of anything that is not currently in work and although competition pics look good I suspect they are a few years old and in the current (in hand) pics she defo looks her age and also unfit and unworked - proceed with CAUTION !!

she does sound very good for you.
ring them and find out more especially about her leg.

2 people on my yard have just bought horses off the internet just by looking at the photos and having lenghthy conversations, and video clips sent to them before going to try them out (took a 5 hour drive with trailer just to get one horse but worth it )

maybe they even know of someone who could deliver for you. but I would recomend that you do go and see her and try her out before parting with money as photos can be misleading.

goodluck to you.

As my mother once said to me that special horse is out there waiting for you and when the time is right you will be brought together. xxxx

I don't think the jumping photo is likely to be representative of her current condition - probably a picture of her when she was at her peak.

You are right the legs do look lumpy, hopefully a phone call should establish if that is the case. OH has said we can spend a whole day horse shopping at the weekend - not sure how he would feel spending most of it driving there and back - he was hoping to go to Sussex and see a few - but nothing has really caught my eye.

I do want safe and sensible, as a priority as my 13yr old will also be sharing.

Hmm, I'm not sure how to put this....

Frankly, she looks very past her best

And I would stay away, rather than buy a load of heartbreak.

I thought that! But as I am certainly no expert I thought she can't be and was possibly just rather plump from lots of grass and little exercise.

I wonder when all the various photos were taken - I have to admit I am going off the idea now

It seems to me she has been off work MUCH longer than 3mths
blush.gif
She has very little muscle tone (I'm comparing her to Mum's hunter who sometimes has the summer off and though he looks as fat
smirk.gif
he has never returned to work looking that poor

)

I would guess she as been out of work for at least 12mths, and possibly turned away completely for 3 of those? I would also speculate that she has been off work with a problem related to her forelimb conformation/ injury - my advice is to stay away

You are all really good at this - I would not have known the things you have spotted just from the photos - you have saved me a very long trip only to be disappointed.

THANK YOU ALL
