At a previous yard, there were a couple of liveries who worked for a well-known, local vet - one was practice manager (she isn't any more) and the other works in the accounts payable department (still there). Despite being registered with another vet practice, my horse ended up on their books b/c the YM used this vet practice to do worm counts. I subsequently left the yard and some very unpleasant things have occurred since which have made me pretty much cut off contact with the person who was in the AP department at the vet . . . without going into too much detail, she used her position in the veterinary practice to some first class poo stirring in an already very contentious and emotional situation - she stepped well over the line and caused some people I am very fond of real pain and hurt.
When my horse got caught up in some barbed wire a little while ago, a vet from this practice happened to be coming to the yard, so (knowing my boy was on their books and saving myself some of the callout charge) I rang the practice and asked if the vet could also see K . . . which he duly did.
I was surprised to receive an e-mail from the aforementioned woman attaching a soft copy of the invoice along with a personal little note attached. Perhaps I'm being grumpy, but I found it unprofessional. I think she was trying to be nice, but my horse's health and well-being is none of her business . . . her only business is to collect monies owed. To draw a parallel, another fellow livery/friend happened to work as a medical receptionist at my GP's practice and proactively reassured me that if I rang to talk to my doctor, I could ask for someone else so as to avoid embarrassment, etc.
Am I just being overly private/grumpy?
